As some people know, I recently purchased this car from a member on here due to needing a car for work and even with the distance involved, I still got the car and have been driving it on a daily basis with no problems. For sale is my 1999 Rover 820 vitesse sport (turbo) in British racing green.
Excuse the first post, but I want to see this car go to someone who will look after it. I am on mg-rover.org under the same username.
Bought this a couple of months ago, it's been sat for about 5 weeks. I start it every week, take it round the block, let it get up to operating temperature. It's a fab car, and I had plans to plonk the engine into a rover 45, but it's such a nice car that I couldn't bring myself to do it.
Bodywork is mint with the exception of a small rust scab on the inside of the drivers door (pictured). its been sat for a month or so, so a wash and polish would go a long way. No dents or damage as far as I can see at all.
All electrics including electric boot and petrol filler cap release work fine, but the front passenger electric window needs a few button presses to go all the way down. all other leccy windows work flawlessly. Aircon works, but could do with re-gassing.
The interior is mint, barely any wear on the leather recaros, a full set of floor mats is supplied
The car has been serviced at a Rover dealership up until 2003, and has had 5 previous owners.
Service book is stamped up until 2009, at which point the previous owner (a rover enthusiast) serviced it himself or at independant garages. There are receipts for oils and filters present.
There's lots of receipts, including (in the last 4 years) cv boots, brakes, tyres and balljoints. The previous owner also replaced the front shock absorbers with new ones, so the ride and handling are both spot on.
The engine is on 94'600 approx, cambelt was done in 2009 at 88'137 miles. its lovely and smooth, and the oil is crystal clear. the gearbox is lovely and crisp and the clutch has plenty of life in it.
It's quick! pulls hard up to the redline with no knocks, ticks or rattles.
Other things to note are almost mint original vitesse alloys with a spare fifth alloy in the boot on a brand new tyre, a nice sounding backbox (not intrusive), atmospheric dump valve, a power cable running to the boot to accomodate a sound system, and a decent sony CD headunit and uprated door speakers.
Masses of receipts, tax discs and stuff all supplied in the original leather booklet as pictured
The car is currently SORN'd, so needs taxing. £115 approx for 6 months. MOT expires on the 24th of september, and has had no advisories on the 3 past MOT's present so will fly through no problem.
Issues:
Starting: it needs a new starter solenoid, as it intermittently fails to engage the starter with the flywheel. The starter motor turns just fine. I've bump started the car just fine, and it's not an expensive issue to sort. I just simply don't have the time.
Windows: as mentioned above, however I can supply a spare window ECU and switchpack if you want them.
One of just 58 left according to howmanyleft.co.uk
I think it deserves to sell on here to someone who will look after it, so here it is before I whack it on ebay, and before I let it go to people who want the engine.
The reason I am putting it up for sale is down to the economy, before anyone starts thinking I am stupid for thinking a 2ltr turbo is economical, I did ask the previous owner who said he got mid 30's. I personally can't get that on my commute due to the types of roads and the other people on them(large hill and lorries).
Since buying the car I have done the following:
12 months MOT
6 months Tax
4 wheel alignment
Fixed the starter
Fitted a manual boost controller due to original only making 8psi.
It also has a 3" catback exhaust system in stainless steel(mongoose maybe) with a twin exit backbox.
Other than that, the car is standard and as original as you can get. Has recently taken me and 2 adults over 800 miles in the last week without missing a beat and I have no problem in driving the car anywhere in the UK.
I can pictures of anything on the car which people might want to see, I have nothing to hide and have a genuine reason for sale. I have some pictures of the car which are below and will answer any question people may have.

Any questions, feel free to PM me for my number and I will chat with anyone about the car. It has been at the last two MG-Rover North meets so the guys there should be able to vouch for the condition of the car.
Looking for around £800ono considering the work done and the condition, delivery is possible so don't let my location put you off either. I would consider a K series engine in p/x depending on the engine due to needing a replacement for my metro.
Car is located in Southport, inbetween Preston and Liverpool on the coast.
