Throttle body clean and polish service
This is a little project i've been working on for the last few days. Got myself an alloy throttle body and gave it a full clean inside, and set about getting it nice and smooth. After a few hours work its now clean, not a professional finish but i'm happy with it.
Once i've fitted it to my car, i wouldn't mind offering this as a service to do in my spare time. Would anyone be interested? As i said before, its not a professional finish, nor a mirror finish after polishing, but will be much better than stock. Although not necessarily giving hp gains, it improves throttle response imensly and this is something that has been important to me on all my cars.
Was thinking of charging £30 which will include doing the said work and sending back to you 1st class recorded post. Just the inside as want to keep it performance related rather than 'blingin' the outside too.
Please get in contact if interested

Re: Throttle body clean and polish service
Not really worth putting pics up as won't show anything you don't already know. Basically over time, your throttle body gets really dirty, correct? All i'll do is clean it all up and then sand down using a selection of sanding discs on a rotary tool, and then give it a little polish at the end. Hence a smoother surface area for the air to flow throughPJW wrote:Needs more pics

Re: Throttle body clean and polish service
To be fair with some brake cleaner and a rag youll get a good shine. The shininess of the inside of the TB isnt going to get you much gains at all.
I thought you were on about shining the outside for engine bay detailing purposes. That would be snazzy.

Brake cleaner will never match the shine of polishPJW wrote:To be fair with some brake cleaner and a rag youll get a good shine. The shininess of the inside of the TB isnt going to get you much gains at all.

Throttle response is the major factor here, all i'm doing is offering the service, so we'll see who's interested.
I'm looking into modifications inside too (cutting unneeded metal from centre rod etc)

Was thinking about knife edging the butterfly. If by the shaft you mean the rod that the butterfly connects to, i'm going to cut a section out of my one and see how that goesmg-richard wrote:have you thought about modifiying the butterfly itself, making it thinner maybe altering the shaft aswell, i think that could work

I'd rather you didn't tripe n onions on my fire here, so to speak. I'm offering this as a service, so if people want it done, they can ask on here.
