Nokia vs Sony Ericsson ?

Post by Din »

Well i have a Nokia 6150 that i have had for about 2 years, i have always had nokia phones and find them easy to use etc.
Problem is the speaker has gone on my phone so when someone speaks its very hard to understand.
I am currently using a Nokia 6822... incase you have never heard of it, http://www.mobile-phones-uk.org.uk/nokia-6822.htm and it works but is very out of date.
So im off out to buy a new phone today :) Obviously my first thoughts are for a Nokia 6300 as it fits the bill and is reasonably priced, but not completely one minded i would like some thoughts on the Sony Ericsson K800i.....
It seems to have some really good features and be around the same price level.
The only other consideration is that i have a Nokia bluethooth handsfree kit in the Ti which in theroy will work on any bluetooth phone, But my other halfs Samsung piece of rubbish does not recognise that the kit is even there ?
So any thoughts and comments welcome as i will be off out shortly, Ta :)

the wife had one of them K800i and it kept on cutting out, switchin itself off, screen
used to go white.
a couple of lads at work had them and one of them he used to have to bend it
backwards on itself to get the number buttons (2,5,8,0) to pop back out of the casing.
there was something wrong with the other one aswell but i cant remember
we still use SE phones but that model is garbage :(

i had the k800 for two years and it never let me down once, great phone IMO with some great features

just upgraded (on contract) to the c902, but will be keeping the k800 as a second phone as i still like it.

if your buying new you get the manufacturers warranty anyway for peice of mind.

had nokia's in the past and they're great phones but the newer models have tiny buttons that my fingers dont agree with :(

Just bought the k800i for the bargin price of £69.00 :)
Seems quite good (if a little large), may take me some time to get used to it.

Cant stand SE anymore, missing features, over rated build quality, not very attractive phones (subjective i know) and not as reliable as they are made out to be. Nokia (specifically symbian N series) for me.

With all my gadgetry its a balance between open systems, ease of repairability and how easy they are to setup as i want, so PC over mac, nokia over SE (and now apple).

Personally i found the K800i quite horrible, creaky build, over sized (even compared to my N95 8gb, i think its the lens cover), and limited functions.

Too late for the OP but I've been using K800i for the last 15 months with no problems and am about to upgrade to K850i
which has better battery life and is slimmer.
I used K800i as a diary/planner and phone book with this programme for my PC :

i would recommend making sure your k800 has the latest firmware as the white screen problem was dealt with in a firmware update.
