R620 Ti and SRS

Post by markg »

Hopefully this will help someone else with a 96 P 620 Ti.....

Cars been off the road for a few months and the battery was dead as a dodo. Managed to get a jump of the wifes car to get it going but noticed the SRS light stayed on permanently. "Crap" I thought. I know, have a look at Rovertech.net, they'll have the answer.

Spent some time searching for SRS info and finally got it resolved by following this procedure:

If you look under the dash below the steering column you will see a yellow two pin connector with nothing connected to it attached to the lower dash panel. Un clip it and let it hang down. Dont make the mistake I made and try and prise off the whole clip from the dash. It pulls apart !

Get a paperclip and do the following:

1... paperclip in to connect the two pins together
2... ignition on
3... when light goes off take out paperclip
4... when light comes back on put paperclip back in
5... when light goes off again, take out paperclip
6... when light comes back on again, put paperclip back in
7... hey prestow it should flash twice and go off
8... take paperclip out and turn ignition off

Job done.
If it doesnt work then you may have something wrong with the system or your not doing it right......it is hard and may take a few goes. Before starting again wait 10 seconds.you should have 4 seconds to do each step.

 What a great resource Rovertech is.
