Manners is easily carried and shame on anyone who can't adhere to that...

...and it might sound ghey, but it is the truth none the less. Recent threads and posts can only be offputting for new and potential members and no one will want to frequent a forum with an attitude/sense of competition/bullying.

There is no hierarchy of the above required or encouraged on RT.

Even the smart can be ignorant.

If you find someone's comments to be what you consider to be total tosh, it does not entitle you to pick on or provoke the author for the craic. Simply move on and find some tosh you can agree on :)

I'm sure nobody wants it to get to the stage that we have a red corner and a blue corner at meets or anything like that, or that members feel they cant attend because of what has been typed the weekend before.

I would like to think some of you guys look forward to logging on at some stage of the day to catch up with the banter and other members and talk shop. You are all a good bunch of lads and lasses, which has been proven to me many times over by various members. Let's keep it that way.

I was looking for the salute smiley for you but there wasn't one and I accept the admin/mod decisions that have been made but I think there are also a number of more technical members here than I am who choose to help where they can and sometimes they are forthright (which can be misconstrued as aggressive) but this situation is a storm in a teacup as far as people with ability are concerned of whatever age.
I don't think I'm alone in feeling that in this instance that this forum is being 'pandering' for the sake of one individual and he does MGR no credit ever while other people of lesser or similar age have more ability and learn.

Cableguy called it right IMO which is now my sig.

I have put the person concerned on my 'Foe' list so I don't have to read the bilge and since my comments ( which were not rude in any way) have been erased, I will never comment on his posts again because he learns nothing and the principle reason he talks about his car is to get attention.

I have had two emails from other forums giving me links to the thirteen page debacle
from people who used to drive Rovers and still browse because of the technical expertise and dedication of the members who will help people out. This member has exploited the tolerance of some very experienced and patient people on this forum who have given up on him because he shows no sign of any willingness to learn practicality and implement it if there is chance of showing off in the interim.

Apologies if this causes offence because this forum and its predecessors have been consistently the best MGR forum because of the tolerance factor but on the thread under discussion, IMO some people haven't been ignoring an elephant in the room but they have been ignoring this:

Just my point of view and no offence meant but this is my final draft after three attempts and it still doesn't make me feel good posting it but I felt it needed to be said.

No problems with that post and honesty is always the best policy and appreciated.

The mod team are aware of the current situation and we are working on a solution to benefit everyone without coming across as taking sides. To hear that the thread referred to is drawing in members from other forums, just for the lolz, is not good news at all.

Again we are trying our best to resolve this problem. :)

TBH nobody has been forced to read Roverdoses threads, those who have continously posted on his threads "offering" advice are the ones who have done nothing but slated him and moaned about his thread going on and on.

I can see why people have moaned though, and its really difficult name calling a 19yr old over the internet

I can appreciate people's concern over the issues of late, but let me assure you there is no pandering going on here.

We aim to treat everybody fairly, unfortunately the behaviour I have seen recently means that several members are all equally culpable.

From time to time we have individuals come and go who may be disruptive, but it has always been our policy to educate. The purpose of a forum is to allow people to ask questions (no matter how silly) and learn. In some rare cases it is clear that this approach doesn’t work and it is then necessary to take further measures.

Any long term member should know the score by now, and I would not expect them to resort to lowering themselves to a position where it is hard for a moderator to tell who is at fault. :annoy:

I expect all members to try and remain helpful and level headed in such cases (and I appreciate that is sometimes hard to do), until the situation either naturally resolves itself, or where intervention is required where there is a clear problem.

By keeping the standards high, it will become quickly apparent if and where any problems lay, and they can be dealt with as required.

OMFG!

It's the Internet. I am one of the most hated people on car forums as my honesty tends to rub people up the wrong way.

I haven't seen what has gone on but drinking is always a good answer. I was such a badger that people had £80 in a pot to smack the hell out of me (cruisestockport) so I went out to one of their meets for a laugh and introduced myself.

Anyone that issues a 'threat' via the Internet is a mard-arse. FULLSTOP.

I enjoy baiting mongs on the Internet but you treat a site/people with how you have been treated yourself. I have always been treated with respect on here so it is shown to others. If people treat you like a C U Next Tuesday then troll the hell out of them! :P
