Recommend the best driving road to go on.

Today i had a collection near Dalbeattie, Sandscove in Scotland and is part of the Galloway tourist route. Last time i was on this road was 3yrs ago and is very scenic and was only thinking on new years day of driving my cabby in the summer to take my missis away for our anniversary to a small seaside village called Rockcliffe. Today i was on this road, very strange and i could recommend to anybody to give it a try if in the area. So got me thinking what other roads could we all enjoy to drive on.

Few roads to recommend,

1-A57 Snake Pass
2-Hartshead Pass County Durham - Cumbria
3-Cat & Fiddle near Uttoxeter/Leek
4-A172 Pickering - Whitby

A83 from Tarbet to Inveraray, epic road.

And the A82 from Crianlarich to Ballachulish.

yeah, remember all these roads in my truck, but love to do them in the car. Love the roads in Scotland in the Lowlands and Highlands as not much traffic and well open. Also the road from Ponteland(NEWCASTLE) to the Borders via Otterburn and Kielder Water, last time i used this road was in the ZT and for a diesel it was great fun.

WTF? Leek is about another 15 minutes plus from the start of the Cat and Fiddle.

The Fiddle runs from Buxton to Macclesfield. It's an epic road and I have been stopped a few times on there for driving like a 'male organ'. Mainly in my old 2.0 Nova. Infact, I went sideways down the opposite side of the road at over a ton whilst running my R5 Turbo in just after coming past the pub at the top as there is a horrid road blend just before the gentle left bend. (Coming past with the pub on the left!) It was good luck rather than ability that I didn't bend it but it was 4AM in the morning!

Nearly hit sheep on there a number of times in the early hours as that was my haunt for driving like a proper weapon.

Good few roads in the scottish borders worth a trip to, theres a good circular route i like to do which goes down the A7 from Newtongrange (S. Edinburgh) to Selkirk in the borders, then onto the A708 St Marys Loch Road (very twisty) then back up the A701 from Moffat. I took the coupe round that route one evening in the summer, fantastic driving roads and great scenery

Awesome stuff, although advisable to not have a stupidly low car! Last time I went there my speedo transducer f*cked itself every time I hit a bump!

Oh, and good brakes for the bank at Stanhope end, otherwise the ford will be re-opened!

Truely epic, proper windy mountain road, no traffic, good surface, and a rather unusual road sign at the foot of the mountain stretch which included a picture of a car with flames coming out of the bonnet!

Just after the top, on the way back down the other side!

A82 from dumbarton to crianlarich, turn right at the t junction, and follow the signs for aberfoyle over the dukes parts through queen elizabeth national park.

then back from aberfoyle past drymen, through balloch, and back onto the A82 again. 90 mile round trip on some of the most winding mountain roads going.

Its the A537 Macclesfield to Buxton,unfortunately there are now average speed cameras along the entire route. !!
Nothing there except sheep aswell !!

So many good roads to choose from,with the Lake District,the Peak district,Yorkshire dales and North Wales all within an hour away.
But some of my favourites are...

A4212 Bala to Trawsfynydd North Wales
A590 Near Kendal to Millom in the West Lake District
A684 Sedbergh to Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales
A494 From Ruthin to Dolgellau North Wales

I like these roads not just for riding,but for fantastic scenery as well..damn cant wait for summer

A696 and A68. I agree thats an amazing road. I used to use it alot when I was at Uni in Edinburgh.

Just about the whole of Scotland is covered in great driving roads! A76 Dumfries to was a new favourite until I discovered that carrying on on the A75 past Dumfries, I can take the A712 to Dalry and then the A713 to Ayr.

Hardknott and Wrynose definitely on there. I killed my cheap car battery over there, it fell apart internally with the jumps and bumps.

When I Went to Fort'William The Roads are ace...

Even the Roads around Fort William them self are just ace...

its Constant Lane change and push your car to what ever limits you want.... & The Scenary Is Breath'Taking!

Went through the trough of Bowland a few years ago trying to find a different route to Kirkby Lonsdale,instead of the usual A59 to Gisburn - A65 route.
My god....some of those roads are not much more than single lane dirt tracks !!!
We got lost and ended coming out at Lancaster !!!....only about 50 miles out

Looking at that Atlantic rd in Norway gives me the need to go over their for a touring holiday. Them roads look out of this world to experiance.
