Its not 'Scotlands shame' its Scottish football's shame, we have alot going for us... bar 'the scheme' on tv.

If Neil Lennon wasn't an erse he'd be more popular but thats the way we are, talk out of turn ye'll get leathered

Wise words, chief! Luvvit.

(Neil's not an erse, though. He's just a bit rash. He'll grow out of it. As for him becoming more popular, that wouldn't take much at the moment, would it? A slightly drunk unicyclist with a bucketful of the AIDS virus in each hand would enjoy more public support just now, I reckon....)

Surely you mean you'd be "pissed off"? Unless the shock of the event would drive you to alcoholism? Feel free to riposte with a Valley Girl style "Whatever!".

They're clearly idiots, but then you're spending your time losing an argument with them :P

It can't be JUST because he's an Irish Catholic. There have been many Irish and hundreds of catholic players in Scottish football over the years who haven't had this kind of attention.

Also, I'd suspect that this is down to an extreme few rather than being a hate campaign by 1/2 of Scotland.

Sectarianism in Scotland seems to get blownout of proportion, its not really that prevelant.

I agree, also it is 99.99% confined to glasgow so it annoys me that the whole of scotland is being tarred by it at the moment in the media. Ive never experienced or witnessed any kind of sectarianism or religious bigotry where i grew up and still live - unless we include the standard ignorant chanting from the away end whenever im at a dundee utd match against rangers or celtic.

IIRC the new SNP bloke spoke in the Scottish parliament and announced that tackling sectarianism was one of his top priorities?

Whilst at the same time saying he wanted nothing to do with the UK.

It's not just that Neil Lennon is a Catholic from Northern Ireland. After all, the man who filled his job (manager of Celtic FC) from 2000-2005, Martin O'Neill was the same. Crucially, though, Martin never played for Celtic, although he had been a supporter his entire life. As a youngster, Martin O'Neill's parents were willing to allow him to travel to Scotland to attend Celtic matches, but NOT matches with Rangers.

Quite why the section of the Rangers support who align themselves with the UDA and the 'Loyal Orange Lodge' consider playing for Celtic to be an act of treason is completely beyond me, but they do.
