MOT place apparently didn't damage our car!

For things that don't fit into a category. i.e. non-motor related subjects.

MOT place apparently didn't damage our car!

Post by sharky »

Took our ZR for its MOT today and it passed only needing some wipers.

But, i just looked out the window and noticed that the NEW front bumper has 2 scuffs on it.

The car has been sat on my drive all week and not driven til today due to the snow and i took pictures of it in the snow on tues and the scuff isn't visible on them.

So it was either done by me driving it there this morning (which it wasn't)

or by the MOT place.

Where do i stand?
is it worth me even complaining seeing as there is no proof it was them?

If you're 100% positive it was them then go down there and give them hell.

.....and they will tell you to FO since there is no proof they did it.

By all means try, but expect to be told to get bent. If its a chain however, complain to customer services.

We do a body check to cover our own asses, so we note any damage down on the car before we move it..... that way if someone complains we can tell em to get bent.
On the other hand, if i damage a car (which i have a few times) then i either get it sorted or tell the relevant people who inform the custemer and then get it sorted.... but im quite honest.

As said, if there is no proof, they will probably tell you to bog off, but give them as much sh1t as possable about it and they might budge.

I have no proof that it was them at all.

I'll assess the damage better when it stops sleeting, there are some other bits that need painting on the car so might just get it done privately.

still annoying though as the bumper was only painted and fitted 2 weeks ago :(

Not true all the time, thats a pesimistic outlook young Si. This happened to my MR2, didnt notice when i picked it up from MOT centre, but got home and noticed it, and knew i hadnt done it on the way home . Went round there and explained their error, they had a smart repairer come out and fix it that afternoon free of charge.

No chance if you didn't report it at the time. It's your duty to check it when you collect it, although they will never tell you to do so.

right, had a development.

just found out that my girlfriend stopped at morrisons on the way home and parked next to a trolley park.

so we just went and had a look and found blue paint on the side of the barrier that runs along the side of the park.

she says she didn't realise she done it at the time, but in a way i'm glad it was her rather than the garage, as i'd hate to have a dispute with a place like that.

silly cow!

so, does anyone know if chips away are any good?

I have used Chips away before. Was impressed with the work the bloke did to my old car. My girlfriemds dad used them though and wasn't as impressed, but it was different bloke who did the work. Think it just depends on who you get really.

Chipsaway is a franchise and quality varies. By and large they use poor quality laquer supplied to them which is the main issue.

Check this map out and see if anyone is local to you.

I'm sure my mate used a company called paint wizard or dent wizard :? :? ...something wizard anyway. Same sort of thing as chips away, i.e. they come to you.
I'll try and catch him see what they were called :)
