Re: RIP Amy Winehouse
Just seen the news and was shocked but expected. Would you really want to be a celebrity.

Re: RIP Amy Winehouse
Out of all the raw, true talented people in music today you tell me someone who can convey actual passion and gutsy energy into a Jazz song? Nora Jones? Jamie Cullem?
Give me a break.
Just giving a swift kick to someone who's time is up is cheap. With a drug problem as acute as hers she obviously had serious issues way beyond our comprehension.
She was obviously a rare talent, listen to Tony Bennet yesterday talking about her on radio 4:

He is still a massive talent himself, real old school Jazz learning his trade after the war, from many greats. He speaks about her with real passion and empathy. I doubt he suffers fools gladly.

No sympathy at all for her. She had everything and could have contributed so much more to the world.
Good riddance, another drug addicted waste off our streets.

I'm sorry, but how does being a skanky drug pig and a constant let down to the fans who pay to see her utterly disappointing concerts, equate to being talented?maestrovdpt16 wrote:Out of all the raw, true talented people in music today you tell me someone who can convey actual passion and gutsy energy into a Jazz song? First I've heard she's brown bread. That's what you get for spending all day in the garden switched off from the world. What's the circs of her death then?

No sympathy at all. She was a junkie and did nothing to help herself - hung around with junkies, went out with junkies, married junkies.
As said, it should hardly be news after what happened in norway. That was a tragedy, Winehouse was what happens every day to junkies in every city in the world.

Acute? I think you are using the wrong term fella. She was a fully blown smack rat, it's widely known that she would take anything she could get her hands on.maestrovdpt16 wrote:Out of all the raw, true talented people in music today you tell me someone who can convey actual passion and gutsy energy into a Jazz song? Her debut album was called 'Frank'. How ironic. Maybe she should have spoken to him?
Her smackhead fans haven't given up hope yet, they are chipping together to get her coffin lined with tin foil. They're hoping to get one last hit out of her at the crematorium...
Re: RIP Amy Winehouse
Honestly, when I heard the news my words were 'really? Awesome!' with a large smile on my face.
The fact that she's made money on the back of the fact that she was one of biggest wastes of space going annoys me and the fact that she's dead means that the world is that little bit better.
Her music was awful too. Couldn't stand any of it. I am still puzzled how she became famous.

Re: RIP Amy Winehouse
Having watched a little bit of the tribute on VIVA last night, I now remember that when she started out she was a great singer and almost fancyable. Sadly, she downgraded her common sense and ability for something less desirable and that nasty picture above sums it all up.
It's a shame that she died but I don't feel any sense of loss, not like I did when Freddie Mercury died.

Re: RIP Amy Winehouse
The only shame about it is that she'll now have tributes and people will remember the highlights or the 'troubled talented artist' or some such. If she hadn't have died she's just have wasted away and people would not remember her or put her on a pedestal.
It happens with all of them.
Elvis (I still dont see why he was so popular, his music was awful), Michael Jackson etc etc. I'm pretty sure the former would just have been known as some fat man who sang a bit. The later would have just been remembered for the kiddie stuff. Because they died people remember the good bits but forget the bad.
One of the best things an artist can do to retain atleast 50 years of fame is to die in or near their prime. All the talented people who live and get old just get forgotten in time.

Re: RIP Amy Winehouse
I'm sorry I have no sympathy whatsoever for her. Yes she may have had some good music but she wasn't a patch on those that were in the 27 club that made music, Morrison, Hendrix just to name 2.
At the end of the day she was a junkie and I have no time for them. If she wasn't a celebrity she would be committing crimes to fund her habit like breaking into our cars or houses anything to fund their habit.
It is a sad waste of life and I feel sorry for her family but there just doesn't seem to have been any of the right support around to help her and keep her on the straight and narrow.

Re: RIP Amy Winehouse
Lol
How can any of you knobs say that she actually deserved to die or that you was happy at the news?
I get sick of all the fakeness when somebody dies, saying how great somebody was when their dead, although nobody gave a bother when they were alive.
But for anybody to be happy when someone else dies is bang out of order imo unless their sick murderers rapists or pedo`s. Yeah she was a smackhead, obviously with a shitload of issues to go with it, but that dont make her a bad person and defo doesnt mean she deserved to die.
