need help guys

Post by mg55 »

ok hired a van today. driving down a one way street with two lanes. i was in the left hand lane. checked my mirror. nothink was coming down the right hand lane. cars was behind me. i indicated to get in the right hand lane.as i got in the right lane. needed to park up now . just turning van to park. then bang.some guy hits the side of the van. i have a witness saying how fast he was driving.this was a 30 zone..there was some skid marks about two and half metres is that right if he was traverling 30mph.got in touch with police they said just exchange details. so what do i do now guys. this was a rented van.his saying it was my fault im saying it is his vault. nothink wrong with the van. then suddenly about 30 seconds after the crash his friends/family turn up which i found strange. talking in some language ive never heard... sorry about the writing and spelling im still fuming about it as this happend in swindon. and i live in birmingham. so any help would be great

Sounds very fishy to me, I would suspect it's an insurance scam, especially as his family conveniently turn up just after the "accident"

Definately sounds a bit dodgy. We've got a blatent fraudulent claim situation going on at the mo at work. A car that already had substantial rear end damage set off at a junction and then the driver took his hands off the wheel and stood on the anchors in front of one of our vans. It was proper close and our driver isnt sure there was even any contact, particularly as there isn't a mark on the van, literally nothing. Despite that, the occupants are all trying to claim for whip lash

Sorry pal but fishy or not you failed to check your mirrors/blindspot adequately before making your turn. The insurers will put you at fault. Does it matter anyway? I assume you were on the rental insurance and you paid for the collision damage/excess waiver? If not, well it's an expensive lesson to learn

When renting a car, yes, take the risk....but a van? Come on, they're sooo much easier to prang if you're not used to them.

your already in the right hand lane, where do you pull up to park and how can the car hit the side of the van?

Oh. :?

I'm thinking it was as he was getting into the right hand lane...........or....he decided to park on the right from the left hand lane?

That sounds well dodgy to me, And if u have a witness make sure that he states that he was the only one to see the accident.
