Now see this on another site


For those who dont know if a turbo goes on a diesel and it fills the intake with oil when the engine is switched of it can run away on the oil in the intake and you cant stop it look at this vid :-o :-o and it wont stop until oil runs out in engine or you suffocate intake. I had this happen to me all be it not as bad as that vid as the one I had the conrod stopped the process :lol:

Joes landrover defender 200 TDI started for the first time after a years rebuild and this is what happens when the engine runs off its own oil

Pardon my ignorance with this type of situation, but couldn't he have just stalled it?

If it was manual yes.

That said, it's a pretty scary thing to witness, most just panic and stand clear.

I experienced something similar on a Ford Capri once when the O ring for tha air filter dropped into the carb and jammed the butterfly fully open.

Spray a c02 fire extinguisher or powder extinguisher unit intake and starve it.

I have put a wooden bord over an intake pipe in this situation befor... Just don't try it with your hands or rags lol.

Oh yes forgot about that ha ha that went over big time ha ha

To any one that's interested

I got a job in on a pajero for a engine change so me and andy went to pick it up
On the way home I had my foot flat to the floor climbing a hill and she picked up on her oil I drove the remainder of half a mile on the foot brake until I got home and you could see a thing ha ha
