Rovertech the Film ......anyone?

Post by Anthonyti »

Hi everyone, after speaking with Grant about my idea, I thought it prudent to post to the Rovertech community to gauge interest about the possibility of making a documentary film- about you guessed it Rovertech!

I am an independent documentary film maker. My background is directing, making films and producing theatre. I run an independent film making business.

After getting some help from this very forum about my car, I was very impressed to see a thriving community of people with the same interests - helping each other out - and meeting up to show off their cars and skills to each other. Also by far Rovertech.net seems to be the most inspiring forum too read and take part in.

I think that in making a documentary about the Rovertech community it will give people a true insight into one way that makes Britain great. 8)

What would be involved in the main would be interviews, people working on their cars, family views so on, meeting up with members, Rovertech - possibly how it was started, opinions of each others cars, friendly rivalry etc to build up a view of the community. Also following national events too, maybe culminating in a santa pod style shoot out the end, the options are vast!

The main focus is to follow the lives of a number of people as they pursue their happiness
This in turn gives the viewer an insight into people’s lives.

Hope this sounds appealing to you as I think it could be really good and will be a different style of film - real people with real lives. Makes a change from celeb/reality tv!
Please post with your ideas and suggestions and I will be happy to consider them in the film (if there is enough interest!)

Who knows someone could become a star! :D

Regards
Anthony (ti) Whitfield

PS I was at Combe last Saturday and got a little bit of footage of some you guys, I will edit it and make it available if there’s a want for it.

You need a cameraman? im a freelance steadicam operator.

Think a documentary would be brilliant idea. Had thought about something similar a while back, but wouldnt have the time to organise it myself. But if you need a cameraman or a hand doing anything, id like to help :)

so for a start i am looking for 'characters' who want to be filmed at meets/ gatherings, and I know there certainly are some characters on here :P and people with performance rovers, people doing projects, people who love their cars,i will pm people who i would like to be in it but if anyone fancies a leading role don't be shy :D pm me if you are .... (shy that is), any filming carried out will need to signed by the respective persons for release so don't worry if you don't want it in the final production it's always down to you

Just to add - I discussed this at length with Anthony on Saturday.
To clear a few things up that may be going round in your heads:
-There is no chance the film is being made with highlights on the antisocial behaviour (if there is any). It is designed to promote a sense of community.
-Anybody not wishing to be included but who is present at filming will not be included - everybody would have to sign release forms.
-There will be no financial renumeration to anybody for this film, if it were to go big.
-A few people will get chance to preview and approve it before it goes to any tv company. (this made my mind up, as this prevents it from being chav-bashing programme).

Sounds great Grant & Anthony :D

On a personal level I couldn't give a rats about the money. It'd be great if it went back into Rovertech though, to develop it further. There's a lot of potential here, both on the site itself and the knowledge of the people who use it.

I have to treat them as though they are almost human when in court so a little "chav-bashing" make a welcome diversion.

From his big head that he will need a very wide angle camera, for the aforementioned head shots :D:D

you said 25gb a month on bandiwdth, can't take up more than.. erm.. 1gb of hdd space, but i dont know much about how much space a database takes up, but still, £15 a month should be more than enough

www.totalchoicehosting.com

infact look here

and as of may 1st, all their accounts will offer greater bandwidth and hdd space than show there.. for no extra cost
