I Hate My Neighbours

Post by will2c »

Just had my new 620 Ti delivered the day, Only thing is its not running the now so we took it off the recovery truck and tried pushing it round the lane to my garage but cause all the rain the lane is that slippy we couldnt push the car up the wee hill. So it got left about 6 car lenghts up the lane.

Next thing I know one of the guys from up the street are down moaning, You cant leave your car there. That lane is for emergency vehicles which is utter garbage as we couldnt even get the recovery truck up there and thats only a VW LT35.

Tried to explain to him that the police told me last time i had a car on the road without tax outside my house they told me to move it to the lane so it was off the road, but he was havin none of it.

The worst of it is there is only 2 other people barr me that uses that lane and the guy who was complaing wasnt even one of them that uses it.

Sorry for the rant Im just realy annoyed, If I put it on the road I get done for having no tax or insurance, I try get it to my garage the best I can and I get hassle and probably the police heading to my house as I type this out.

shoulda asked him to help you give you a push.

i tried pushing my 800 backwards once on my own, and just looked like a fool infront of my neighbour at the time.

she was nearing 60, and gave us a hand! fair play to her i say...

That all depends upon the price.

The last non-runner I "bought" was free - you can't get laughed at for that.

The 416 was a free non-runner and probably spent as much as I paid for the MR2 getting it to where it is now..... but guess what? I find it more fun and rewarding fixing up a car than buying one with no problems :P

I'm sure my neighbours love my car

I normally come home from work at around 11:30pm and even if I haven't been booting it, leave the car running for 30 seconds or so before turning it off.

The exhaust is nice and deep as it is, nevermind when it's parked on the driveway and the sound bounces off the house.

Be careful with that , im in the same bout and the council can serve you with a seize of use or a change of use of property, opens up all sorts of logger , best to keep yaself to yaself.

Again me being boring , but being in the same boat...

I had a noise abaitment order served on me for my car being too loud , was limited to starting it no later than 11pm and no earlier than 7am.

Again , just be careful else youll end up pushign it off the drive ;)

:o :(

That sucks! Fair enough if they want to complain to your face, but to go as far as that... were they never young :(

If you're nice about it and just explain your choice of exhuast/why you need the car at those times, I'd tell them to naff off if it went any further.

Just because some grumpy old boring sod (no, not you :P) can't remember what it's like to enjoy cars, doesn't mean you should have to suffer too!

Cant tell the council to naff off unfortunately , technically you cant sound your horn after 11pm , so a 100db plus exhaust is a definate no go if someone complains.

tbh, if you come home and leave your engine running for 30 seconds, your being a bit inconsiderate.

i know we all have to come home at stupid o clock sometimes, but there is no need to be a tool about it.

everyones gotta give a little, my next door neighbour plays his drums at 8am every morning, but i aint bothered as midday sunday im normal clattering around outside hitting something with a hammer...

anyone with a stupidly loud exhuast should be extra considerate in my views. Its not your god given right to turn a family hatchback into a formula 1 car , so dont make everyone put up with it if thye dont want to...

A tool? If I came into the street under boost, straight down to the bottom and then back up... that would be inconsiderate.

I don't see a problem with what I do. From coming into my street to reversing onto my drive, I very rarely go over 1200rpm. I slip the clutch to keep the car as quiet as possible. How is that inconsiderate?

I don't get any complaints and I've even asked my mum/step-dad if I wake them up. Their bedroom is at the front of the house so you'd think they'd feel the brunt of it.

HeHe didnt wanna start a row, just advising to be careful as it only takes one neighbour to complain thats all :)

P.S you really dont need to let a water cooled turbo run on idle for a while :)

i was talking about leaving the car running for 30 seconds at idle.

obviously any efforts made to be considerate when parking is a good thing. i always turn my car around in the morning for example.

Some people are just a massive PITA and will complain without stopping to think "is this actually affecting me, or even likely to?"
