good thinking.
should do the job.
not sure what kind of temps 32 or 40mm waste pipe (assuming thats what it is?) can take. should cope with it fine though.

doesn't engine coolent get up to about 80-100deg C?
if its not able to take that kinda temp then it will prob go very soft, and leak.
i'd check it often.

I guess the car runs at more????
It is only to get me to work and back for two days or so so should be ok, if not i have plenty left over to make more

I wouldn't drive the car until the new pipe arrived. Have you any alloy tubing you can use instead? A fudge now may end up costing you a headgasket change if things go Pete Tong.
The thermostat opens around 82degrees and the fans kick in around 90 odd (iirc) so that bit of plastic is going to start to get hot and soft and thats not even factoring in the fact that the coolant is pressurised.

reckon my folks would have something to say about the platic in their cuppas lol.....Hey maybe i could produce a leaky bleed screw fix ebook 99p on flea bay using metal piping obviously
It would go something like.....
Cut the hose either side of the dodgy shite bleed screw , get a bit of 32mm metal pipe and 2 jubilee clips and put them in the place of the pipe you cut oot....
