police = shite
(in short) well last night my little sister gets confronted by a chav with a knife threatening to stab her she managed to get away hiding in some trees she rings 999 and asks for the she tells the poilce where she is and that someone is chasing her with a knife. And there reply is GET tis
seen as your only about 3/4 of a mile away from home we dont class it as a emergency get home and ring your local station.
so she gets home rings the police again they say they will be out within the hour but dont bother showing up rung several times today and still waiting.

Re: police = shite
I would imagine with all the kerfuffle in the media regarding knife crime your local paper would be interested in this...possibly even a shite-stirring tabloid like the mail/express.
Anyway, should have said she thought they had a gun...or she was a law-abiding citizen who had performed a citizen's arrest on a hoodie. They'd be round sharpish then.

Not classed as an emergency because she's 3/4 of a mile from home, would the police have used that as a reason for there failing if the worst would have happened.
So what does it take these days, to be chased by a nutter with a gun?

A while ago my dad's allotment was being broken into every night. Around midnight or so... Dad told the police. They said they'd get a car to drive by if they had time.
WTF - how much effort does it take to get out the car and check the area. Every time I drive late at night I see loads of police driving about doing nowt, clearly just wanting to pull people over for no reason. I don't think the problem is that they're after money, I think the problem is they're all too lazy to get out their cars.

Call your local paper, i'm willing to bet a quid they'll send someone before the police do and hopefully some heads will roll afterward.
Really sh1tty for your little sis, pass on my sentiment and hopefully she will not be changed too much for too long by it...scary stuff mate and can really affect a person....especially when you're told the help you think is at hand isn't.

T@SSERS
makes me sick -
what if it she had been putting her bins out for refuse to collect and someone hand a knife or coming home from shopping or work - would they say, oh your 3 yards from your house, we dont class it as an emergency, go in and call local station - tutut the operator should be disciplined to the fullest imo, what if on the 3/4 mile walk home he seen her and attacked her - people would say she should have phoned police when she lost him the 1st time - she did grrrr
how far from your home do you need to be for someone to threaten you n chase you with a knife for it to be classed as an emergency?
so its like the operator was sayin, when your in your own home and someone threatens you and has a knife, tell them to stop while you get yellow pages out for local police station because the number you thought you could rely on (999) is useless

in all fairness to the police they do have a lot of important work to do, this would be stopping and harrasing young male drivers for no reason or anybody who fits after market alloys and tinted windows.
To sum up the police they are a total bunch of knob heads.
Hope the young lady is ok now. Bren.

If that was me in such a situation to say I would be angry and annoyed would be a great understatement indeed.
The bigger you can get this, and I think it's just a sbad were it not national, imho the better.
Can you seriously imagine being in the same situation???
What's next...
you phone 999 and after it answers then says 'Haha fooled you...there's nobody to take your call right now, please leave a message.......'
The whole 'get home and phone local station' thing is ridiculous...what if he's just round the corner (thank god he wasn't) or you just can't make it home for such a reason..... f****ed up isn't even close.

The sad truth is that they'd rather fill their crime statistics sheets with easy targets like motorists than actually confront someone violent. How many times have we heard that 'total crime has significantly decreased but violent crime is on the increase'?.

sat in station doin paperwork aka chilling out while plastic cops (community support officers) walk round gettin dissed and laughed at by chavs cos they cant search them, arrest them, nothing lolvictor3 wrote:Where are all the REAL coppers these days?
my gripe with the government if ya interested......=
special constables = exactly the same as real police - can arrest, stop n search, disburst gangs/crowds etc etc DONT GET PAID
community support officers = useless - they cant do anything, if they come across a crime they cant stop it, only get on radio n call the real police or specials - we have neighbourhood wardens that walk round the community, talk to the eldeerly on concerns with hoodys etc and noise pollution at night from young council tennents that rent gets paid by dss cos they have kids at 18 n cant work - etc so wat is the point of community cops? THEY GET PAID
now i dont know bout you but i'd rather pay the specials that actually do a good job or at least a job if the word good is to strong - as oposed to payin community cops to walk round gettin laughed at n mocked when all they can do is call someone on radio -

I thought these CSO's were the Special Constables ? Then again, anyone with the title "special" was retarded in some way.community support officers = useless - they cant do anything, if they come across a crime they cant stop it, only get on radio n call the real police or specials

nope - the CSO's get paid - think around 20k a year off top of my head - where as the specials, are volunteers and dont get paid a dime but have the exact same powers/role/job etc of the real police -
i like your thing = Community Support Officers = Cant Sort Owt lol so y pay them?
y not just make them real police officers that can actually drive vehicles and search for drugs, weapons etc and arrest people instead of doin the neighbourhood wardens job of just walkin round and callin the real police wen something happens

Re: police = shite
I have to stick up for CSO's. I know most of them are girls that failed their hairdressing course at college but a few months ago we were playing our weekly football game at Westview Leisure centre and someone kicked the ball over the fence and behind some trees. The guy that did the walk of shame couldn't find it and came back empty handed. We then noticed a group of black tracksuit wearing types playing with our ball and when we asked for it back we were hit by abuse. Just then a male CSO rode up on his bike and asked what was going on, we told him and he rode over to them and asked for the ball back. They told him to F off plastic pig etc but rather than back off he just calmly got off his bike and started walking towards them, they shat it and threw the ball to him before running off. The CSO even booted the ball over the 30 foot fence, LOL. Top geezer.

Re: police = shite
I was a bit sceptical about this thread. Thinking there is probably a good reason why the Police never came out immediately. Surely they would take something like this serious. Well my mind has been changed today......
I've just been told by my sister that my 14 year old nephew was attack by a gang whilst on his paper round. He was grabbed around the neck and had a knife held to his throat!! His friend, who was walking with him, was threatened too and was thrown a knife and invited to a knife fight!!!. My sister immediately phoned the police, who said they would try and send someone round, unfortunately they never turned up!! In their defence they have arranged to take a statement tomorrow.
To say I am fuming is an understatement. I can't believe there wasn't an instant response, especially in the current climate. Together with the OPs story it just shows the law abiding public aren't being protected from crime. I am very very tempted to deal with this myself, but you can guarantee if I did I would in front of the bench in no time.

They seemingly don't do anything about crime even when you hand all the evidence to them.
my sister's car got run-into by a neighbour who then drove off without saying anything. All capture on good quality CCTV with time & date stamp, had his face & reg plate on the video & you could see clearly the moment of impact.
i exported it from the HDD recorder to DVD (several copies), gave a witness statement as I was watching the CCTV when it happened (didn't get outside in time though) and gave them the case start to finish. They decided not to prosecute for (you'll love this!)
LACK OF EVIDENCE
where the bother was the evidence lacking ????

There was probably even more when you count the hidden ones i missed.
Last Sunday on an approx 10 miles of the A5 aproaching Bewts-Y-Coed i spotted 4 marked police vehicles, and 1 unmarked Skoda octavia that came burning past me with sneaky blue lights hidden in grill.I can gaurantee there are more.
That to me is the reason ...

It does make you wonder where their priorities lie. I regularly see ANPR operations with several units involved. While I want to see untaxed and uninsured drivers being punished I would feel a whole lot more assured if I could see evidence that they are using as much man power to tackle serious crime. From my experience that doesn't seem to be the case.Bikernut wrote:Today while going over a 7 mile section of "the cat and fiddle" pass i counted no less than 6 police officers(in various guises...behind a camera,on a bike/car..one dressed as a farmer with a speed gun)SubCat001 wrote: Thinking there is probably a good reason why the Police never came out immediately.
