220 GSI Turbo

Post by Dave 220 »

"Possibly" looking at selling the GSI.

The project has kind of stalled and I'm not really sure if I will ever get round to finishing it

As it stands the car hasn't moved for two years or so, it really needs a lot of body work done, however I have nearly every panel apart for from the roof, front wings and front bumper.

Parts that would be included are: (these are all new and genuine)

Both rear quarters + one spare (can't remember what side it is)
Boot
Rear spoiler
Bonnet
Driver side door
Passenger side door skin
Both Sills
Rear Bumper
Rear spoiler
Most of the grey rubbing trim.
Steering Wheel
Headlights (I think both)
Front Indicators (I think both)
Rear GSI and Turbo Badges
Rear exhaust box with chrome trim
If think I have both wing mirrors (100% have both covers)
Both rear spats with mounts.

Other parts which would come with the car would be:
Radtech radiator (new) however it needs the frame modified as it has the mount points in the wrong place and I only realised a year after a got it :-(
Billet control arms
Top Mounts with bearings

At the moment the car has fitted:
Apexi AVCR Boost Controller
T28R
Loads of ploy bushes
I also have around 16 Turbo alloys and a set of BRM alloys

I was part way through getting some stuff powder coated

These parts include:
Both anti rollbars (silver) these also have new ploy bushes.
anti roll bar mounts (black)
Rad Frame (black)
Fan Frame (black)

I have a quite a few more parts which I will also include (throttle bodies, exhaust manifolds etc etc.

As the car stands at the moment

It has new front disks and pads fitted
The engine leaks oil (possibly rear seals) but it did run.
The turbo has a snapped bolt in it and one of the threads is stripped.
The down pipe I bought doesn't line up (so probably junk) has a new o2 sensor fitted though.
Gas shocks need a refurb
Gear box is original.
Interior is in very good condition apart from the roof lining has dropped at the back.
Battery to the boot conversion is not the best.
All water pipes are stainless
Silicon Pipes all over
Front and rear Strut braces.

I will have missed a fair bit off this so if anyone is really interested please drop me a MP

I have owned this car for over 12 years I think, it has been used a lot for trackdays and has not had any easy life.

I would need to get rid of everything and I'm not going to sell off bits, the car would need to be taken on a low loader or trailer and you would also need a van for the parts :)

The car does NOT drive (the front end is in bits) at the moment and has NO MOT or Tax.

Let me know what you think.

PS really don't want to sell it so could change my mind at any time

That's a real shame

It's also a crime not to get those rear quarters copied as I don't know of any other sets in existence

Anyone have any thoughts on that?

In this day and age you have enough trouble getting someone to part with £10 let alone the cost of tooling to replicate it. Fibreglass copies would be very easy and no chance of any rot again only issue is then using that and keeping the integral strength of the car could be a headache but possibly a posibility to do.

It's still sat on my drive :(

Should really do something with it tbh.

Thing is I really want it to go to someone who would get it back on the road.
