I wasn't planning to, Rich.

I was hopeful that we could begin something that will, (with a bit of polishing and practise), become an annual Rovertech trip.

At the moment, I'm merely waiting on that events date list to be finished, as I'd rather be sure than sorry, once that's finished, further plans can be forged. I wouldn't think it will be long in being completed, but as it stands right now, all it seems to suggest is that there are no public open days beyond February.

Ideally for myself, I would probably be aiming for the same sort of time as last year, probably not as late as August.

May/June iirc, good timing for me as thats just after I finish the 'summer' term at uni, and its just before the school holidays, so generally cheaper and easier.

I have to attend this, as it was part of my new years resolution to drive in europe and to drive on a track, so it ticks both boxes.

why not just combine with RCOC seems silly to have two seperate trips and we usally have the same number of dutch etc which come also.

we have been going for a few years now averaging about 20-25 cars each year.

no point in any one putting names down untill you have confirmed dates...... as every year about 50 names get put down and only usally 10-15 of us from the UK go.

don't get uptight on if its a rovertech meet or a rcoc meet why the hell does it matter. its a meet among old friends and new.

seems silly to re plan something that's already been planned...

they will have public days later than feb vard  they just haven't been released yet . so just wait , whats the rush.

I don't think two trips is necessarily a bad thing, if they are spaced apart it would give anybody who couldn't make the first date a chance to do the second one.

Getting everybody in the same place at the same time is never an easy task, also I think Vard was planning on different accommodation arrangements to the RCOC anyway.

I wouldn't worry too much about it Martin, if they coincide that's great - but it is going to depend on what dates are best for RT'ers and what arrangements we can make.

First thing is first, find out what sort of numbers we are talking about and who is interested in going. :)

I'm interested, just depends on time and money.

I'd be nice to visit the Ring before those running it completely ruin it.

after running the rcoc trip for the last 3 years if u want any help just pm me, as said best to wait for the dates for the track to be set, about the end of feb. then pick the dates with the most track time, would be good if you could get a track day at spar as you drive right by it? last year you could go on the f1 track as well for 30 euros

Most of june the tourist open times are reasonably limited, July is even worse the best time in june seems to be;

Wednesday, 23.06.10 17:45 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,

Thursday, 24.06.10 17:45 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,

Friday, 25.06.10 14:15 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,

Saturday, 26.06.10 17:15 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,

Sunday, 27.06.10 08:00 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,

so perhaps up on monday back on sunday (I think trying to go on the track on a sunday maybe isnt the best idea as its likely to be busy?
as edward22 said a few hours will probably be enough of actual track time (I was thinking do the ring on thursday and friday (as friday is open from 2pm)
will work for booze.

Looking at the dates, it my even be a better choice to go in may as there is a much better 'run' of days available

Friday, 21.05.10 14:15 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,

Saturday, 22.05.10 08:00 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,

Sunday, 23.05.10 08:00 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,

Monday, 24.05.10 08:00 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,

Tuesday, 25.05.10 17:15 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,

Wednesday, 26.05.10 17:15 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten,
will work for booze.

So June only for me. But please don't feel May is out of the question for you guys because of me. If May is the only time most can go, I'll go next time. :)

we usually go around June July time .

but the dates for the ring have only been released up until the end of June . and June doesn't look very good at all for public opening hours.

we might not even go this year may give it a miss and go some where else not sure . as i think alot of the ring regulars on rcoc are planning to go to Portugal instead. but we shall see i have put a thread up on rcoc to get some interested . when the dates have been released for july . and if there is enough interest on rcoc, shall organise then

Right.

Rich and I have been having a bit of a natter.

The gist of it adds up to this - We're not going to need all day every day on the 'Ring, because we aren't going to be at the 'Ring all day every day.

So June isn't a non-viable option, and as such, I think most people seem to feel that June is a better option - myself certainly, from my point of view it will give me longer to save up for this.

However, being that there are a couple of people who May might be the better choice for, we're going to generate an official poll in the Living room << 'Ring Trip Dates Poll >>, just to make sure that we all feel June will be the better option.

Please pop in there and vote, folks!

Realistically for me, it's one thing or the other, not both, and this year the Portugal trip in August is the only one I'm committed to going to.

I had a real quick scan through but couldnt see anything about it so..

1. Can you drive there on your British License?
2. Do you need to upgrade your insurance to cover abroad?
3. Is there an age limit to driving in Germany?

If not Im game :)

This probably won't make much sense, but, it's easier for me to go in May, but I'd rather go in June!

The dates in May fall nicely with my shifts, but I normally try and book off a long stint during the summer anyway. The problem is that I believe there's a football event of some sort in June?! So people at my work will probably want the same dates, and we're only allowed 3 off at a time. Back to work tomorrow so I will check the holiday chart.
