Martin, those times are worked out more for comfort, than avoiding rush hours. Speaking personally, I would rather spend a little longer on the roads in daylight, than make a several hour journey across countries I don't know, in the dark, when driving in the dark is bound to make me far more tired than waiting in traffic.

talk from experience i have been several times now. i do 60 k miles a year all over the country.

im not talking about rush hour in this country !


and yes ok vard comfort sat in hot weather on the Belgium ring road . which if you get caught in you could be there for a few hours!

every one will find it far easier to travel through the night ok no worrys we will plan our trip you plan yours.

and richs problem was just a nackered clutch plate in the end his gear box was fine.

tbh i cant be bothered to argue. do what u want lol . as i dont think im gunna go my self anyway now to be honest . just gunna go with work as i wont have to pay. so im just gunna advise any one on rcoc to join this trip. if it actualy happerns this year

Why change the dates just because we want to travel at different times of the same day? It worked perfectly well last year when we arrived ahead of you and waited.

Its pretty childish if I go and log into the RCOC and find the dates have been altered. Some of us are looking forward to seeing people we met last time.

If this is a personal spat between Vard and yourself then I suggest you guys nip it in the bud before the bickering begins to put people, such as myself, off.

no im just trying to give my advice. i havnt changed the dates . me and vard get on quite well.

no offence but u arrived early spent the night sleeping in cars when i gave you all a letter which i had taken the time to write in german for you to give to the campsite owner. so u didnt have to sleep in your cars.

u moaned about getting wet when you turned up for a weeks camping trip well, ill prepared . and just spent the week moaning about being cold and wet... then left the group to sleep in a chalet then went home early because you still didn't like that.

as i said in my previous post im just gunna let you and vard sort it out. i think alot of us are planning on doing something different this year anyway tbh.

so ive just asked any one on rcoc wishing to go to the ring this year to come and join with you guys.

Martin, that is complete rubbish and if that is a reply to my last post then you have missed the point.

You earlier suggested changing dates which you already set to coincide with the RT group all because you and vard can't agree on what time of day to travel. I highlighted this and you obviously can't take the critism of your actions up until now.

We arrived at the camp site after midnight and did not wish to be driving through a campsite full of sleeping paying people. Did this ever occur to you?

We got wet, sure. I can't recall moaning to you about it, infact I cant recall trying to ignite any conversation with you at all during the trip.

We also stayed for roughly as long as we had planned to.

I encourage you to find me someone who agrees with what you said and make a liar out of me

We appreciate your advice, but we are trying to organise a trip to the ring to suit our members, it is quite frustrating to have somebody keep popping on and telling us what we are going to be doing.

The letter you provided was unfortunately of no use as the campsite was closed when we arrived, one of the reasons we intended to arrive at a reasonable hour this time. We did not want to phone the chap in the early hours of the morning, or pitch a tent in the dark

I seem to remember everybody moaning about it being wet, even you When the campsite is flooded the best tent in the world offers no protection. This is nothing to do with being "ill prepared" Your gazebo collapsed under the weight of water!

We moved to the chalet because we were wet through, my tent had leaked in the night and everything I had was wet, the chalet gave us a chance to dry our things out and provided us with a comfortable nights sleep at a cost that was more than reasonable.

I seem to remember you guys coming up to join us and having a laugh, so it can't of been that bad

From the benefit of our experience, the chalets were very comfortable, just nobody had thought to rent them before.

We also sampled the local food and went on an excursion to investigate what was available, what's wrong with that? Like I said, not everybody wants to do the same thing, and we were fed up with sitting in the rain eating a cold BBQ. Again I noticed you followed suit, so we can't of been that wrong.

Both the campsite and chalets are available, so what is wrong with offering both options for those that want them?

We went home "early" because we had only booked 3 days, the ferry tickets were set and we had commitments to be back in the UK. This was always our plan. We came and did what we set out to do, lap the ring.

dont get me wrong i like the idea of loads of people but seeing as i only know a few of you i will probably be sticking with the guys i know rather then getting lost and not knowing anyone.

Frightening.

Jon can attest to that, he was drawing air through his tightly clenched teeth at six or seven points around the circuit, and there were finger shaped indentations in the passenger seat bolster and the doorcard when he got out of the car.

Before you go, I would recommend nothing short of enthusiastic practise and effort at memorising the circuit on a decent racing game. Speaking personally, my prior experience of the 'Ring was on Forza Motorsport (mostly 2 and 3), and I'd recommend 3, as the mapping of the corners is absolutely spot on.

How demanding is the Nurburgring to someone that ain't done any other track laps?

Depends how busy it is. tbh the first couple of laps you spend looking as much in your mirror as infront. The technique I found on my first ever lap to work was just to stick to the right then every time I wanted to cut left to enter and exit or apex a corner I'd do a quick check in the passenger mirror before moving over if safe.
By the 3rd lap I'd gained enough speed to use the line and only move over when being caught.
Once it starts coming together you get faster, so you get caught fewer times so are able to spend more time on the line, therefore you can go faster, learn the track better and ge even faster. Its just a matter of taking those first laps with the right attitude and building speed gradually.

Last year, we paid €80 for the night we were in the chalet, which was split equally five ways.

Just drive it like it's a fun stretch of road. Fast, but don't overdo it. And keep checking your mirrors because you're bound to be overtaken a million times if you're there on a busy day.

I think I was cross referencing images of both the Vit rad, and the D16 200 rad/fan setup with the 220 turbo arrangement in my mind.

Agreed, though there's not necessarily a need for them to sign up on the forum - just make sure you get a confirmation from them and their names, Mark.

Guests can now view the event forums, and so can browse the information and discussions posted in here, so there's no enforcement for them to join the forum if they're of no particular mind to.

It's more about simply keeping track of the numbers and the number of cars.

Vard - Thanks for the help but so far i think i can manage for the min. Just a case of replacing a few blown bulbs and fitting a new rear ns sensor if i can get hold of one.
Then getting a couple of tyres fitted - hurry up payday!
