Opinions needed!

Post by lennox1185 »

Morning all,

I am currently at work but don’t want to be here anymore. I want to get out of here and potentially do something that involves me being my own boss. The problem is I don’t know what to do!

As said, I would like to work for myself and start my own business from scratch. I know this isn’t easy but at 24 I have plenty of time. I am sick of answering to stupid people. I know not all managers are a*seholes, but I can’t keep job hopping until I find a nice place to work!

So the question I am asking is what services or needs to people have?  I have thought about doing plumbing courses, plastering, IT courses, landscape gardening, mechanics(to be a mobile mechanic)……even just domestic cleaning for the time being!!!

So what is it people need most. What service would you be most happy to pay for?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

It's all well and good posting what courses you can do but what sort of work do you like?

No disrespect intended but if you are putting cleaning in with mobile mechanics I assume you have no/limited mechanic experience in which case thats a bad idea to start with.

Why are you looking away from secure employment? Do you want to work inside/outside, do you want pleasure or money?

Why not look into something you could start as a sideline and develop IF it takes off? I am looking to move to a place with a workshop in the back garden so that I can develop a few things I have in mind. I have no intention of leaving my job, I love it, the perks are great, the people are awesome but I want a sideline income. May as well be doing that than posting on the internet or burping the worm over porn!

Yeah, wherever possible run any venture alongside regular employment.

Bear in mind that 90% of new businesses fail within their first year. Ones that succeed often won't turn a profit for 2-3 years.

Not trying to put you off at all, but having an good idea is the easy bit. Unfortunately everyone else has similar good ideas and you have to beat them and make the idea work.

NEVER get into mobile mechanics. You only get cars that are too f*cked up to get to a garage. No servicing or swapping parts, just nightmare hell jobs. Scratting around in filth lying wedged underneath a car absolutely shagged trying for the love of god to get the last seized/rounded bolt out. Ask the question, why would you call a mobile mechanic rather than take it to a garage? Only because you haven't got AA cover.

thats crap mate, there's always gonna be work with cars that pays good money, i'm a mechanic by trade and think it's ok tbh. Just dont limit yourself to mechanics only, I'm also doing body work as a plan B/extra income type thing. :)
