Got back home this morning to find I'd missed the parcel delivery after leaving to get the missus from work. Good job my neighbour saw the postie and asked to take the parcel in for me. Brake lines look the dogs bits and I can't wait to fit them.

well fitted mine in the end.

had a few issues

1:they came with two fixing points on the hoses .( the black plastic bit) so had to cut the extras off.

2: the ends didn't fit through the hole on the chassis so had to drill the chassis mounting hole out( where hose turns to copper).

3: dunno if this is the same on all rear disc coupes but the rears could of done with being slightly longer and the hose is at a very tight bend when it mounts to the caliper . as the std rubbers are longer and bend more smoothly if you know what i mean .

i very nearly didn't fit the rears due to this and was gunna put the old rubber ones back on. ill just have to keep a eye on it .

i also put those stainless banjo bolts straight in the bin and kept the old ones

apart from that my brakes are now really really .... spongy lol . more bleeding is required i think lol

You did fit the hoses on the correct end of the car didn't you Martin? The hoses with two fixing points are for the rear (don't ask exactly where they fit because I can't remember) and the single fixing point hoses are for the front.

This. Was my immediate thought when you said two fixing points, you can mix them up.

As said above, check you have these the right way around. The rear hoses have two brackets, the fronts have one.

If you have any problems please ask before doing anything! DON'T cut or alter the hoses as it will then be impossible to return them if there is a problem!

You may have to clean out the hole, but you shouldn't need to drill it at all, this will expose bare metal and cause your bracket to rust. Both HEL and Goodridge use similar fixings on the body end, a large nut replaces the flat sided locating lug. The should just push through and then retain with your spring clip. If your bracket is badly corroded then you may need to address this before fitting the hoses by cleaning it out and rust treating it.

Martin, I hate to say it, but it really does sound like you have mixed up the fronts and backs, the backs are 50mm longer than the fronts and have an angled banjo, so if you are using the fronts on the back this would explain why they are too short and don't fit.

I echo the above, why? They are one of the best bits of the kit - I can't see any reason to keep the old ones in preference. Remember to remove the old steel washers from the calliper (they tend to stick to it) before fitting them though.

I'll be doing the trial fit on Saturday. Initial inspection of the hoses and comparison to my current Goodridges give me no reason to suspect there will be any fitment issues whatsoever, but I'll give them the all clear once fitted.

As above Mart it does sound like you stuck the fronts on the rears, again you can always ask first if in doubt..

never had this issue with my trusty drums!

and yeah prob was full of rust it is a rover .

and cus ive known of calipers to split due to different expansion rates etc

I completed the trial fit of the Brembodge hoses this morning and thus far everything looks good. Quality of the hoses was spot on and I experienced none of the fitment problems described by Martin, however I only fitted the front hoses today.

I took a couple of photos of my mornings work...

There are no clearance issues on full lock with the hoses being set further out from the caliper compared to the OE banjo fitment

Just as an aside (and mainly for martin's benefit ) here are a couple of shots comparing the front and rear hoses. The hoses shown are my old Goodridge lines, however the same differences apply equally to the HEL lines.
Front hose (with the single mounting lug) is shown at the top. The rear hose with twin mounting lugs is the one at the bottom. Note the length difference between front and rear.

The banjo fittings are also different. The rear hose, shown on the left here, has an angle on the banjo fitment whereas the fronts are straight.

If you put the ones with double clips on the front, and then cut off one of the clips they are almost certainly round the wrong way martin, the banjo angle shouldn't be critical (although should still be there), but the rear hoses will be longer.

Good news everybody....


Well, sort of.


The kits arrived today, but they are slightly different to the ones Tom tested. I was about to bang my head against the wall but I've tested them and I think they will be fine.

The difference is the plastic bracket used to locate the line - the previous kit had a single hole bracket, these have a double hole - however when you look at it the bracket still lines up and I've checked rear hose against a spare rear trailing arms I have here and it looked good.

i have no idea why they have made the change, but rather than mess people around any longer I have sent out all the kits. If there are any problems, as I've said before, contact me first. I'm pretty confident they will be OK though.

The only other problem is the post office is shut until Monday, so they are in the post, but probably won't get there till next week now, but I thought it was best to get them sent off either way.

Once again, I'm sorry things have not gone as smooth as last time, but I hope you will all be happy with the kits.
