These bikes look tiny, and you have hardly any post out of the frame too! (Ignoring the jump/trials).

Few of mine soon to be replaced with 2011 Boardman team fs

Awesome bike for the money
Done a few enduros this year and some of the bikes that people buy are unreal.
£3000+ bikes and no idea how to ride em.
IMO £1000 - £1500 is all you need to spend on a bike if you want a good one.

Re: Post your bicycle thread
Here's my old set of wheels:

had it for must be over 12 years now! It's nothing special, but it's gone everywhere. Any part that broke, got upgraded. Might be a hodge bodge of parts, but it's surprisingly indestructable, and very light. Forks are well past there sell by date though!
I go by the idea that if I never ride a better bike, i won't know what i'm missing, so i wont spend a fortune!
my plan when i move house is to put some solid forks up front, skinny road/ hybrid tyres, and longer gears, and use it for commuting to the station

Lock on grips
Larger rotors with recent pads
New saddle (but may keep it)
Excellent condition with minimal marks on it. It has 3M carbon stuff where frames usually take a battering.

uhmm, not entirely sure, sub 40 lbs i believe - 36-38lbs? it's an absolute machine on the steep stuff, just lacks the speed for the tamer trails, gonna build a nice hardtail to fill the gap though i think! Have never sent any suspension away myself, apparently you can have some great results though?:)

Its about the same weight as the coiler then, hard going if your out for a whole day on it, but immense on drops and fast flowing stuff! Im hoping therell be a big difference with the forks when i get them back, bushes were shot and the top oil seal had went so they werent very responsive and felt a bit flexy when pushing on

Re: Post your bicycle thread
Haven't got a picture yet, but about 2 months ago I bought an Apollo FS.26 Mountain Bike with full suspension, 18 Speed Shimano Gears, and a badly cracked rear tyre!
Still got to replace the tyre, but I've been riding it almost daily for the 2 months I've owned it and it works great.
With my last bike you had to keep re-adjusting the gears every week, but the Shimano gears on this one seem to keep their adjustment and shift smoothly, and more importantly, shift into the right gears!

And admittedly you have to pay more for it. Drilled rims to save weight - more expense.
It honestly is a money bit. Everything breaks on them, frames snap easily, buckling rims when doing a gap, brake pads dont last long. Scratches form all the time. I hate it but i love it.

can any one recomend a good set of XC tyres? i need somthing long lasting with plenty of cornering grip but also needs to have little rolling resistance... im running a set of specialized resolution 26x2.10 but the rear pretty much slick
mike vaughan has suggested going for wider tyres to improve cornering but going to wide is going to slow me down on tarmac
im looking at these

continental may be worth a look.
About the grippiest tyre AFAIK around atm are maxxis high rollers, they do sell them in an xc version also, may be worth a look (obvioiusly avoid any soft compounds).

Re: Post your bicycle thread
Finally got round to getting something a bit lighter than my kona for offroad - in fact i think its lighter than my cyclocross
Its a Trek 9.8 elite vw team, custom build with a massive spec
Carbon fibre frame
XTR drivetrain
XTR brakes
Rockshock Sid SL forks
Carbon bars, stem and seatpost
Chris King headset and hubs
must have cost a fortune when it was built, i took it for a test ride yesterday and thats the first time its ever been used! So took it out today and got it dirty

Utterly immense, seriously considering selling my kona now though if anyones interested...

Just built this up yesterday for abit of fun, is for sale also, 600quid:

Re: Post your bicycle thread
Treated myself to a new bike;

My Scott Sportster will now be my wet/winter commuter and I'll bring the Mekk out on nice days. Also bought a pair of SPD-SLs for each bike and some dhb shoes.
Spent a bit of time on the Scott to get used to them and fell off the first time I tried to set off
Thought I had the hang of them and went out on the Mekk a few days later... utterly petrified at the thought of falling off and damaging it!
Very pleased with it. Not the best bike obviously but miles better compared to what I'm used to and a good spec for the price IMO. I was considering the Cannondale Caad8 Tiagra but it felt like I was paying an extra £250 for the name.
