MPG will be terrible and to be honest 180s are worth pennies at the moment. I think at that age it is in the band for the £440 per annum tax disks. The only deal makers would be if its had the belts and/or the clutch done.

If you really wanted a KV6 i would consider just selling and looking at a ZT190. A little better made, more mod cons. Essentially even the mk2s are the same build quality as a '97 414i.

Do it, you can always turbo the zs later, but you will have a more reliable base to start on.

As much as I love the T16 turbos, if you put a nice induction setup on the 180, you would seriously forget all about boost every time you heard it under load. Absolutely glorious noise.

Not to mention the handling is indeed on the nifty side.

Thirsty as all hell and silly tax though!

Hmm. Rethinking about it again, i would say that if you can afford to run it, and tax it, then theres better larger engined cars on the market. Maybe i just dont like them, i dont know. A4 Quattro? 328/528? All roughly in the same price range.

I had one and yes with an induction kit they sound great and even faster although they are quick cars, forget the fuel consumption and run it for a year, mine only cost me six points for 100mph plus

Does the kv6 always fall into the £400 tax band though? I just couldn't stomach paying that much to tax a car, on top of at least the same again in insurance.

I love the look of the MGZS V6 with later bodykit and still have got my eye out for one, although think i would want to supercharge it too.

ALthough not sure which would pick if it was a decision between that and my turbo coupe
