URGENT HELP REQUIRED !!

Post by 617sqn »

Hi Guys,

I'm in very, very urgent need of the pump pressure fuel pipe that goes from the pump down to the fuel rails on my 620 Ti. We changed the petrol tank on Sunday after it started leaking from the seam a few weeks back. All went well except for the above pipe (part No. WFH 101500), which is corroded very badly indeed at the banjo joint under the rear of the nearside cill. Rimmers list it as Out Of Stock and on back-order, but on quizzing them they have no expected date for delivery. It appears that there isn't a new one to be had either in the UK nor Europe (despite several sites listing it as available :x ! If anyone has one for sale off a broken car or could let me borrow it for a few weeks for copying in braided hose, please let me know. Text if you want to : 07979944377.

I'm desperate - Don't want to scrap a perfectly good Ti for want of one bloomin' hose :(

Cheers, Andy G.

Just checked http://www.mgroverpartfinder.co.uk and as you say no stock, you could try someone like Pirtek, they may be able to knock you up a replica.

Thanks for the assistance so far, Guys, but .........
They apparently have stock
Apparently they don't !! I spoke to Trevor this afternoon, and he regrets to say that there is quite often a falsehood as far as parts go. They get advertised as available when in fact they aren't. I wasn't very impressed with that, to be honest. It's giving false hope and the wrong impression, to put it mildly. Lying isn't too strong a word :x

I tackled a guy on a garage forecourt yesterday with regard to getting a replica made up, as he was driving a Hydroquip van and they do similar stuff to Pirtek. He said the warehouse could help but would need a pattern, hence my request to borrow one. I daren't risk attempting to take off the existing one - it's that far gone !!

I've bought a pipe from a breakers in Norfolk, but alas it's different to the one on the Ti in question. Perhaps someone will be able to point me in the right direction from here on in : the original has steel pipes at either end and a swaged rubber section between. The one I have bought has a steel pipe (presumably) tank end and a rubber section which terminates in what would appear to be a push-fit connection with an orange rubber cover. Does anyone have the section that will push into this and attach to the fuel rail under the car ?

Cheers, Andy.

Without knowing any better I'd wager that one is from a post-1996 car and yours is a pre-1996?

This was the point that they swapped to push-fit/quick-release connectors for the filter filter and fuel rail return hose (banjo's before).

If the steel pipe is ok at either end you could replace it with copper pipe and unions. I would think the original pipe would be a standard size that you can match to generic fuel/brake/clutch pipe.

If you get really stuck you could replace the steel pipe with a length of rubber EFI hose. It'd have to be a good fit, though. Normal pressure is 3 bar but can get as high as 6 or 7 bar.

Hi Anthony,

You are correct in assuming that my 620 is a 1995 model year. I thought it was probably a model year change : Unfortunately the Rimmers site doesn't differentiate and what I've now bought is obviously the later type, albeit with a sticker on it with the part number that Rimmers give (WFH101500). Mine was a double banjo fitment, and now I have a banjo at the pump end and a push-fit at the fuel rail end. I don't suppose anyone has a photo of what the later one looks like down that end ? The end of my fuel rail under the car terminates with a flared fitting similar to brake lines. Presumably I can source a fitting that would allow me to extend the original to provide a link to the new hose somehow ? As you can see, I still need guidance :(

Have bought a bit from Matt who is breaking 2 620's at the moment, which "plugs-in" to the rubber push fit end of the new 2nd hand pipe. Hopefully all will be sorted this weekend.
