Engine lower mount Rover Vi
hi..
i need the lower mount the one that fits between the oil sump and rear frame and "pushes" engine to the back in order pg1 to fit..
there are two types, the short one (i think this one was for r65 200/25/zr) and the long one for Vi/BRM..
i need the long..
i ve seen here http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001237 it is part number 14.. the picture doesn't really help..
on mine i had fitted a polybush, but i have got tired or the noises and vibration, and i want to go back to stock..
if anyone has one, please let me know.. :S

Re: Engine lower mount Rover Vi
Do you mean the actual arm or the bracket that bolts to the sump? It is the bracket that is different between R65/IB5 and PG1, the actual arms that go between the bracket the the subframe are the same length.

i mean the arm that holds also the bush..
i m quite sure that they have different length between r65 and pg1.. hence the different part numbers..

Re: Engine lower mount Rover Vi
They are the same, it's the bracket that provides the increased overall length between the engine and the subframe - on a PG1 bracket the bush sits further out than on an R65 bracket.
Rimmers shows the arm being the same part number between R65 and PG1 models (number 16) and different part numbers for the bracket (number 14) - http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID002905

Re: Engine lower mount Rover Vi
It doesn't differentiate between models there, it just gives several part numbers. You can't use them as gospel anyway as you often get multiple part numbers for exactly the same thing. I went from R65 to PG1 in my car and it was just the bracket that needed changing. I've picked up several of these arms from different cars and they're all the same for aluminium sump K's in the 200 bubble shape and 200/400 R8. Most (but not all) 1.4's and a lot of 1.6's had a steel sump in the 200 bubble shape, which doesn't have this arrangement and has a bracket mounted to the differential housing iirc.

Re: Engine lower mount Rover Vi
The short one mounts to the cambelt side engine mount on the top side, it was never supposed to be fitted between the subframe and sump bracket and you wouldn't be able to anyway as it's far too short.
Like I said, you need the relevant sump bracket, it pushes the bottom of the engine further away from the bulkhead to give enough clearance for the larger PG1 differential housing from the subframe. The difference is very subtle, the bush in the bracket sits maybe around 1cm further out on a PG1 bracket than on an R65 bracket, but this is enough for the gearbox to clear the subframe.

Re: Engine lower mount Rover Vi
i think i have the relevant sump bracket as well.. because the clearance is ok..so i guess if the low mount is the same, i could use whatever mount available..stefaclese wrote:The short one mounts to the cambelt side engine mount on the top side, it was never supposed to be fitted between the subframe and sump bracket and you wouldn't be able to anyway as it's far too short.

these are good news..
in this picture we replaced afterall the polybush with a stock used bush, just as a temporary solution..

Re: Engine lower mount Rover Vi
You need the longer bracket for a PG1, with the R65 bracket you'll find that the differential housing sits right up against the rear subframe. You need the bracket to give you clearance as the PG1 is larger than an R65.

Re: Engine lower mount Rover Vi
since i have pg1 on, and differential housing doesn't sit right up against rear subframe, shouldn't i assume that i have already the larger bracket?stefaclese wrote:You need the longer bracket for a PG1, with the R65 bracket you'll find that the differential housing sits right up against the rear subframe. Re: Engine lower mount Rover Vi
You're right then, you probably have the correct bracket. If you had the R65 bracket you'd know it as there would be no clearance to the subframe.
