bit of help guys NOT HAPPY ATALL

Post by alex123 »

right were do i start, as a few of you may already go i have just spent a small fourtune on my rover 620ti,
when i got the car off my dad the spec was _ forged pistons/ t28 hybrid turbo / full induction/ standard and powerflow exhaust / gizmo boost controller / memms ecu , with boost cut off, boost was set at 16 psi!!!! WITH ALL THIS THE CAR MADE 231BHP AND RAN A 15.5 1/4 MILE AT SANTA POD

since then the car has had-
dta s40 ecu with full loom
been mapped and had boost turned upto 18-20psi ( 269bhp / 294lbft )
660 simmens injectors
walbro fuel pump
custom down pipe off amw motorsport
better induction

just got back from fast show and was not happy atall
so why after all this money and engine work i have done, the car wouldnt get any lower than 15.4 at santa pod , i tryed easing it off the line and flooring it of line, it was crap on both , its asiff i had no boost for ages in 1st and 2nd gear ,, then half way up the track i get full boost , makes no sense to me

any advise for me , could it be to do with the map or the gizmo ect,, was only done last week and everythink was ment to be perfect! thanks guys

Did you sort out your actuator problem? As that was losing you power during the first mapping stages.

On your boost controller can you adjust the boost per gear? as i know you could on the apexi to save your gear box. And as dan asked what 0 to 60ft were you getting and what was your end terminal speed?

its running gizmo boost controller, and theres only 2 settings on it, 1 is top boost and 2 3 4 5 6 is 15psi for normal driving.. the 60ft times were 3.1seconds and the best was 2.4 seconds

Waste gate closed = as much boost as the turbo can generate.

Yes, I know, I was asking if the w/g was staying closed with reference to the spring not being strong enough causing the boost to build more slowly.

Wish I'd never bothered commenting tbh

If you have a 14 - 18 psi spring fitted it means that the waste gate will stay closed until you get to 14psi, it may then open very slightly, so some of the exhaust gases will miss the turbine and leak away into the down pipe, this will slow down the rate that boost increases and may prevent you getting to 18psi.

What clutch are you using? Could it be struggling with the torque and abuse off the line? My motor had that problem, it seemed to try and grip and couldnt grip many times a second making it sluggish low down.

Quick google says 1450kg but according to the above that wrong or could be full of fluids and the 1360kg could be the dry weight.

1450 must be with every box ticked and some seriously heavy polished wood then lol, still a big weight though for fwd drag racing, what suspension are you running op?

Does anyone still have the video of the rover 620ti running 14sec 1/4mile? Or can share info about the car?? If I remember correctly the car was running around 270bhp... Owner Mark Lee??..and it wasn't stripped, dont know what tyres he had on or suspension though..
