Tuned diesel
Has any1 got a tuned diesel? Either 25, ZR, ZT or ZS. I am looking at buying one in the near future and was just wondering what people thought of them and if anyone had a tuned diesel?
Cheers

RoverRon tuning box: http://www.45zs.info/ ~ £50 iirc
ZR/ZS Decat: Janspeed SS999K (Elise S1) ~£60
Dont bother with a dump valve...It just shouts chav.

I've had a 2dr 25TD as my work car for 2 years.
It's the 113bhp (or is it 113ps ?) model and has served me very well in the 37k i driven it. No mods what so ever on it i'm affraid (that's why i have the Ti) though it's rather satisfying knowing your getting 50+mpg at real world motorway speeds. Never tried emptying a tank urban as it would take too bloody long!
Good solid motors with reasonable handling.
i belive 130bhp is atainable from the basic TD engine and upto 160 (so i'm told) from the 113 as it's supposed to have better fuel pump and bigger injectors
never properly looked into it my self.

I like the 25 diesel. I believe the remaps to be cheap and cheerful and good value for money, or so i've heard.
(If you want tuned get a 306, stick an FMIC on it, remap, exhaust, filter and Merc 270 CDi Turbo and reap 200 BHP with 40MPG.

Do you know of anyone who's tried that? Last I heard they were getting around 170BHP tops. Wonder if it would work on the older 1.9? Mine has FMIC etc, hybrid turbo was the next logical step...C2K wrote:I like the 25 diesel. I believe the remaps to be cheap and cheerful and good value for money, or so i've heard.

I have a 220SDi. Apart from the noise they make they are great cars. Fuel economy is ace, mine has got a lot better after using Millers Diesel Power and changing fuel filter.
My 220 has standard Mr Softy suspensions yet you can really chuck it around corners if you want. The heavy engine doesn't seem to upset the handling as much as I thought it would.

There's a video of this guy doing a 13.1 quarter somewhere. It's probably not who you think it is as it's a dutch bloke, and a scottish bloke is currently copying the same mods. It was DERV Doctor that had a 170 brake 306 HDi, and even he ended up with 195 I think it was before he broke the car for parts and built something else.s0ck wrote:Do you know of anyone who's tried that? Older 1.9D sucks. The ECU remap on the HDi is capable of huge gains.

I have a ZT CDTi with a remap giving about 160 BHP. It's going to K+N soon as a test bed for their new enclosed Apollo air filter range which should release a few more ponies
The remap is giving slightly better MPG, currently getting 45MPG which isn't bad. The ZT uses the BMW M47 engine and not the Rover L series.
0-60 is about 8.5 seconds while 50-70 in 4th is 5.5 seconds.
Performance, comfort and economy - well happy (and i used to own Raistlins 600ti)
