I know what you mean there - I love my ti! Although I could have had what wouyld have been a technically better and newer car, I'd wanted a 620ti since I was fifteen and had first learned of their existence! It's a car that you can develop a real emotional attachment to - as with a number of other Rovers too I reckon, as members on here regularly show.

Out of interest, how many 600 owners do we have on Rovertech?

There's the plan for one Rover 600 meet to which I really hope to attend, but I wonder if we could get a really big meet going, say 25/30 or more all in one place...

Been thinking, which is often a foolish thing for me to undertake, but if we could organise an event in Yorkshire, I could reasonably easily sort out somewhere to meet, and (yes I am baised! :D ) we have some superb roads round here, especially in North Yorkshire, as the many motor bikes every weekend on certain roads show...

Got the idea after seeing this lot take over Helmsley the other Saturday!

1996 P reg 600ti in Carribean Blue (apparently)

Aquired it at an auction last year for £190, but been after one for a while. Cost £37.00 to get it through its MOT and I adjusted the wastegate actuator but I have not had todo a thing until last week when I replaced the head gasket and managed to break the radiator :?

I bought a 620Si Auto litterally because my Calibra blew up and I had to but a car for £500 that day. I've never liked small cars, and it had to be british or german. So I was looking at a cavalier or a 600.

After seeing how much car you get for £500 I went for the rover. A year later I decided I needed something with a bit more go in it so I bought a 620Ti for £500. Again, amazing value!!

Details

The event is based in the Heart of the North Yorkshire Moors at the picturesque location of Rosedale, close to Cropton & Kirbymoorside and will commence on Friday 19th May 2006

Friday evening 19th May with the main last event being on Sunday 21st May.
The flower of may campsite has good facilities and is within walking distance from the village with three pubs, grocer's and post office. There is also a good choice of B&B's & Hotels around the area for those who don't fancy camping.
Friday We meet up on the Friday night pitch up and then its up to you to go to the local for a social or just chill at the site and get to know & browse Minis & their owners.

Saturday The treasure hunt will take place and will be on a different route to 2005, This year there will be Two Treasure Hunts taking you through winding roads, stunning scenery and beautiful forest parks. The hunt will be designed to take drivers & navigators around some of the hidden secrets of the North York Moors. As well as hunting for clues for the hunt, there will be regular places to stop and visit, including recommendations for lunch stops and places of interest. The documentation for the treasure hunt will include all the information you require to get the most from the area whilst being out and about.
Saturday Evening there will be a Hogg roast, party games and parts quiz in the Northernminis Marquee.

Sunday Will be the tour and Convoy which will head along towards the 9 mile Dalby Forest Drive, where we plan a stop off for the toilets and a chance for the kids to play at the kids play areas and to have dinner & just general enjoy the surroundings of Dalby. The forest has a lot to offer and details will be enclosed in your tour pack for the event.
Then its off along through the national parks towards Scarborough on the coast where we plan a stop on the coast and a leisurely drive along the Marine Drive and Bays. We intend to have a convoy and photo shoot at the famous Oliver Mount Race circuit (no Hill climbs thank you), where we will stop again for a short visit, then its back to camp via Coastal Roads towards and visiting Whitby Abbey & Harbour, then back through the national park over the mighty views of Blakey ridge through the picture village of Lealholm, then its up high up over the hills over the moors to return back to the Campsite.

During the Weekend there will be a team of Photographers and Filmers out on the routes, and a DVD made of the event as in past years. (Click Here for some of the past M&C pictures) The event will have plenty of stunning photo ops and will be filmed with a view of making this event available in DVD format.
This event is intended for 100% adventure & leisure, and IS NOT A RACE! but a chance for owners & enthusiasts to meet and experience some of the stunning scenery & challenging roads. Its not a show but a chance to really drive Issigonis's baby around true English countryside & seaside towns. Owners are encouraged to bring along spares to sell and advertise clubs etc.

The Entry fee is £12.00 this covers forest Drive charges and your magnetic Rally Plate and Window Stickers. Camping is optional but the entry fee is still required.
Entry fees cannot be paid on the day, but are pre booked only.
We are taking bookings now, please make sure your booking has been made before May 1st 2006
Due to advice from the Police there is a limited number of 150 entries for all events, so book early to avoid disappointment!!!!!

Itinerary

Friday 19th May 2006 - On arrival check in to site.
Issue Rally Plates & camping pitches
Evening Greetings from the Organisers , and briefing of the activities over the weekend ahead.

Saturday 20th May 2006

Navigators to be briefed on the Treasure Hunt, and local areas of interest. We guarentee to take you on some of the finest roads in England, with fantastic views and resting places.
Sat Evening – Hogg Roast and Party at the Northernminis Marque!!

Sunday 21st May 2006

The Moorland & Coastal Mini Adventure 2006
Areas visiting : - Pickering, Thornton - le - dale, 10 Mile drive through Dalby Forest Drive, Hackness, Forge Valley, Scarborough "The Borough" & beaches, Olivers Mount Race Circuit & View point, Whitby Harbour, Ruswarp Sleights, Egton, Rosedale, Danby Fryup, Langdale End, Forge Valley, Grosmont, Glaisdale to name a few...

Ordnance Survey Map - Recommend Outdoor Leisure No. 27 (Eastern Area)

You could maybe use another area of the country, but east and north Yorkshire have some superb roads! It's a bit different from the usual meets, and it would be great to get so many of our cars toigether in the one place - they have 150 minis at the weekend.

Just a thought....
Mentioned it when a National Rovertech even was being discussed - i reckon if we could get at least 25 600s, it would be a pretty good event!

How about next summer? Weather should be pretty good, well better than winter!

I reckon if it was a weekend event, then distances wouldn't be such an issue than id it was a one day event. One advantage of the areas I mentioned (or rather, nicked from the Mini club) is that I know them quite well, so could perhaps sort things out for us.

depends what teh plan was really, I'm not a drinker so teh weekend binge thing just woudln't interest me, plus the stay over thing creates costs that most ppl just can't afford or want to do.

I don't drink so much either. Have a look at http://www.moorlandandcoastal.co.uk/ from what I can gather, it didn't cost them very much at all for those who were camping - which might be a good option for anything overnight?

A weekend sounds good, like you say, the travelling wouldn't really be a huge problem for most I hope. Defo have to be in the summer months :D
Spose we could look around for some good venues, if its a weekend were looking for. TBH I wouldn't mind the Lakes, got some great views 8) and would set the scene quite well, if we got enough to turn up.

Would it not be beneficial to all pull together at a national meet with everyone tho? :)
The big RT one wouldn't be until sometime next year anyways as by time get bits organised it'll be mid winter and no one will want to come out and play.

I'd pop along tho, but depending on distance, I may just about be able to scrape a trip to Midlands :)

is there a world record for the biggest gathering of one model? i.e. the rover 620Ti?

not saying others can't come but it would be interesting to know?

a weekend to attempt this would be good for people who can't make it on the saturday?

but it would be a real task to get people together like that.

the pod would be a good place to meet?
