I did an Aston Martin DB7 in the Peugeot. He was trying too - I just knew the road better than him.

Of course that means my manhood must be 100 times bigger than his.

I totally outran a Concorde in my old Vitesse. I knew he was trying, because I heard the sonic boom shortly after I turned off the bypass.

I knew BA would be gutted, but never thought they'd ground them all.

I was impressed that the ZR 1.4 kept up with an k reg escort RS 2000 on the m6 earlier though. Fair enough the escort was blowing out clouds of blue smoke and was probably fooked but hey i was happy.lol

The VTS is only a 1.6 16V. It's the same engine as my brothers Xsara and a Pug 106 GTi. It's 120 brake vs the VTR at 90.

Edit - typo on 120

VTR = 90hp
VTS = 100hp

I once outdragged three mopeds and a 125 from a set of traffic lights in the 620 ti :D Those things were surprisingly quick!

Ferrari 355 Spyder
350 bhp stripped out track EVO 7 (on acceleration, not handling or braking)
370 bhp Sierra Cosworth

Theyre about the quickest ones worth mentioning, a proper list would be very exhaustive.

All the above were on track days as well, so effort level verified and able to chat to the owners about the spec afterwards etc.

Saxo VTR is a 1.6 8v, 100bhp

Saxo VTS is a 1.6 16v, 120bhp.

The VTR has a book time of 9.3 to 60, but when dragging from a rolling start against my mate's, there's very little difference between it and the 220 until higher speeds when the 220 gets the advantage.

Define 'beaten'.

Track days?
Off the lights?
Along a dual carriageway at night?
M25 in traffic at 2mph?
When the other driver wasn't arsed?

lol indeed, Hence why the cars I listed were from track days, technically the 350 bhp evo was faster over the lap, just the Rover was faster in a straight line, slower braking and cornering. The Ferrari and Cossie I was faster on the straights and overall round the lap.

Andy is your car running right? a VTR could barely leave my old 214. They were 90 BHP in original tune.

The Mk1 VTR's were 90bhp, the Mk2's (rounded headlights) were 100bhp.

Yeah, my car is running fine ;) If you think about it, I've had an 8.5 to 60 time from my car so that's only .7 of a second quicker than a VTR if launched properly.

Both the Mk2 VTR and the 220 have a power to weight ratio of around 120bhp/tonne.

Against my mate's VTR when I had my 214, we once set off out of a carpark along a country lane and blasted it uphill. Suprisingly, I kept up with him as I always thought the Saxo felt quicker when sat in it.

When I had a drag race the guy who bought my 214, I didn't leave him behind as much as I thought I would, and when dragging with another mate in his 2 litre Mondeo, we kept a similar distance apart.

I think, unless the cars have a major difference in the power to weight, you're not going to notice much at all... especially if both drivers are decent at launching.

Ive had my turbo for around 15 months now and in all that time I've never had anyone try to race me :o Whether I give it some first and they dont react ,or someone tries to pull away first to challenge me, I've never found myself in that situation so cant compare the car to anything else on thw road! Am I just not driving in the right places? :?

Nearest thing I spose was an audi A4 2.8 that was in a hurry to overtake myself and a few cars in front of me, when I overtook at the next opportunity he went for it too, I was pulling away but only took it to about 85 before easing up and letting him catch up. Still, dont know if he was ragging it or not so couldn't call it a race...

before mods:

Merc EVO II -- very very very close one but I was a tad quicker.
M3 -- he couldn't work out what was happening so I had the element of surprise I feel.
WRX -- kept up with to 120km/h
S40 T4 -- kept up with
Carrera S -- won fair and square, if you can't change gear you lose doesn't matter how much power you have.

after mods:

heh :D time will tell.

It's all pure conjecture.

If I got my butt handed to me in a standard Turbo by a Saab 9-5 260 Estate, then there's no way a GTO would be an easy kill for you. Nor the guy who bragged on here he stayed with a Focus ST in a bubble turbo. Be a man, and hold your hand up when you know you're beaten or the car you were playing with wasn't trying.

Hell, I could say i've mullered an F430. It was driven by Michael Schumacher, who had his race boots and overalls on - he also gave me the nod at the lights and revved his engine before I whooped him. Of course I decided to omit the F430 wasn't trying, and embellished the story somewhat to make me sound awesome. 0wnage.
