Rover 620 ti Prices
I am currently in the process of purchasing a rover 620 ti and have noticed that they are very cheap at the moment. Just wondering, is there a reason for this that I should know about or is it just depreciation?
Many thanks

you get what you pay for.
they are cheap because they arent terribly economical, and when you get to higher mileages, things will need replacing, and this isnt something people want to do...
they make ideal diy cars as most parts are pretty easy to work on, and with regular maintenance, should last lots of miles.
They will never fetch a decent price, just look at what similar vitesse's go for, much much more, as its a better car in the same class, so the 600 is on a back foot to start with.

Round the town maybe 25 to the gallon and possibly 30 on a motorway run - dependant on driving style etc obviously.steve740 wrote:thanks mate. what sort of mpg am I looking at do you think?
Don't let that put you off though as they are excellent fun. I was going to sell mine but it would pain me to sell such a good car for so little so I am now keeping it as a second 'runaround'!

I dont know where your looking, but around here you cant give vitesses away, no one wants bargy old 800s anymore and i wouldnt call the vitesse better than the Ti. The only Rover turbo to fetch any money is a coupe, all the others are less than 1K and id say the 800s were the cheapest. Just looked on ebay and at online trading sites and thats certainly true.Scott wrote: They will never fetch a decent price, just look at what similar vitesse's go for, much much more, as its a better car in the same class, so the 600 is on a back foot to start with.

imo original 420 turbo's generally fetch more than the coupes in standard form comparisons.rovex wrote:I dont know where your looking, but around here you cant give vitesses away, no one wants bargy old 800s anymore and i wouldnt call the vitesse better than the Ti. Good luck with the purchase
There was a Red 'ti at a garage in Barry a week or two ago by the way, the pics I saw made it look rather tired but the quality of the pics was pretty shocking!

where you from mate?rovex wrote:Ive seen no evidence of that, both my 420s were very tidy and under £1k, its rare you seen a mint coupe for that, at least around here.
as i find coupes are ten a penny now and i've been offered a lot more than a grand for each of my 420's.
in my experience i've found the 420's are more sought after as there was only 500 made so the demand is higher.

fair enough mate i can't comment on prices in exeter as i've never been there to try and sell a car, but i'm from Birmingham and round here you can fetch a few more quid than that for a descent one

personally i'd say the 220 GSi turbo's fetch the most, Seen them go for £1500 plus on ebay. Thing is it annoys me when people use ebay as a price guide then find ones on autotrader and think they're over priced, Its the other way round, cars , unless something special, fetch bugger all on ebay compared to what they're worth. I not long ago sold my moms 400 bubble. looking at others i'd have struggled to get £200 for it on ebay but they're still fetching good money on autotrader, Sold it for £575 for a quick sale in the end but had plenty of interest. Another case i know someone thats just sold an R reg Rover 100 (metro) For £800, now they go for like £100 on ebay. Now what other small car could you get for that money? P reg saxo and 106 1.1's are still fetching a grand

Agreed i would never use ebay for price research or to sell my car on as you'll end up cutting your own arm off. I only use it to advertise what cars im breaking.southside wrote:personally i'd say the 220 GSi turbo's fetch the most, Seen them go for £1500 plus on ebay. i'd always advertise in the auto trader as you find most of the buyers are genuine and know what a car is worth.
It also says a lot about the seller too as iirc it cost about 30 quid to advertise your car this way and generally shows your a genuine seller.

As far as I remember it was AB Car Sales - it was in the local free rag a while back I'll see if I can dig it out.
Just checked their site and it doesn;t mention it at all
Sheizer - it must have been a good two weeks ago as I was looking at replacing mine with it while my car was awaiting repair.
Where in Cardiff are you matey?

yes indeed AB Car Sales in on Barry Road, they had an MG ZS 180 mk2 that I was after shortly before I recall seeing this 'ti. Still not 100% sure it was that place though, just saw the new copy of the funky town paper and it's nowhere to be seen (nor last weeks "edition")
I always keep an eye out for any kind of Rover Turbo locally.
I'm from Cowbridge mate but work in Cardiff Bay (and lived in Cardiff for a few years)

Wouldn't hesitate in recommending a 'ti to anyone

Hmm honestly.. i don't really use her much now (done 5,000 miles since last MOT) some polite git recently snapped the 'lectric aerial and kicked off the wing mirror. AND i cant be bothered with £2.50's worth of Nova with 24 chicken nuggets in the back constantly trying to race me all the time. I don't want to waste the petrol on them. I'd rather float to work unhindered and nice and calm. Also i haven't got the money to finish her off TBH. she deserves a better home than travelling 15 mile per day. She is having a good clean tomorrow and i'm hunting out the new steering wheel, boss and huge FMIC then she will go on the bay and in the free local!steve740 wrote:why you selling mate?ti or not ti wrote:OH FFS just when i need to sell as well... Ha ha ! knew it wouldn't be long before we got into that conversation.. in all honesty she isn't perfect.. the rear arches have started to bubble and she needs markcoupes bushes fitting to stop the play in the gear shaft.. and a few other things. Let me have a think and put together an ebay ad and i'll put a link to it up on here steve!
