Radiator problem - need replacement urgently

Post by whacker »

Hi All. My Rover 620 SLi (1997 Honda Engine) has started bleeding!!

The radiator decided to pour it's guts out whilst I was on the motorway and the temperature gauge shot up. I managed to get some watera nd Rad Weld in it temporarily but I need to get this replaced ASAP. I'm happy to tackle this on my own but I could do with some pointers on what I should do (or not do) to sort this out... as I have never done this before. I've yet to purchase a rad and want to know where the best place is to source on from (preferable a genuine part) quickly.

Thanks

I get my rads from a place in Walkden, For my 800 it cost about £100 fitted. I left the car with them for a morning, I think they recored my own actually but if they did, it looked like a new rad, all shiny and black!

A workshop manual is always a big help :)

620 is very easy...

ebay has LOADS of honda 620 rads, all for about 50quid, very reasonable...

also AFAIK, the rad is VERY easy to remove, just the 4 bolts on the slam panel, and the whole thing lifts out, its that easy.

whilst its off, you can flush some of the pipes to get rid of that radweld, and replace the coolant with new stuff...

also, auto and manual 620rads are different...

Thanks for the feedback guys. Any ideas if there is an online manual available anywhere or does any one have a copy of the section for replacing rads that I can "borrow"
