To -Alex- Any man speaking of a GTST with fondness is one to be thought well of, imo, good choice. (Just as a thought, there's also a Metallic Grey one I keep seeing parked in Marlborough High Street).
To Firose - if you ever do come round to selling it, point yourself my way before anywhere else, won'tcha? I'd jump at a flame red 220GSiT in any nick, let alone one that's looked after as well as yours has been, provided I had the cash.

As far as next cars go, assuming we're talking realistically....
Probably either a flame red 220GSiT, or a flame red 220 Coop Turbo, tbh, or a flame red version of either of the aforementioned, with a t16T block whacked in.
That's unless I work my way onto a job that pays well enough for me to be able to afford circa £5K on a car, in which case it'd probably be a Mitsubishi Galant VR4. (or a GTST? Only if I could find one that needed work, though).

Ideally I'd like a DC5.... Realistically, with fuel prices going the way they are and me having less time to enjoy driving over just driving to get places I expect my next car will be a diesel of some kind.

Contenders so far are Leon Cupra TDI and Accord 2.2CDTi with sports pack.

Owen - If you think 7yrs is a lifetime, my bother has had his Mk2 Cavalier SRi since 1988 and still going strong.

agw_01 - Thats exactly the way I feel about mine and it's not worth selling for silly money. Might as well use it and have fun with or keep it as an ongoing project.

Vard66 - I will do but they are already a few vultures already ahead in the queue :P

John W - Those R500's really do like and also they do command a high price to. I just love the Cosworth range and always wanted to own since passing my test.

Here a few you guys to drool over 8)

Even considering getting a Magenta Saph 4x4, too many choices

Firose, some great links there, that white 3dr for sale is unreal!

Must say I wouldn't be fussed which Cossie I ended up with, 3dr, Saph or an Escort, they're all awesome imo. The saph's certainly seem to be going up in value these day's (not surprising really).

Think my fav pic on the 3dr thread was this one (although the black and white Norwegian one's are stunning too)...

Think I really would like to try and get a 3dr if money allows. 8)

The sierras looks nice and retro IMO, escorts just looks like tat to me. I dont really see why people rave over them... they will always look like a cheapo ford hatch with loadsa plastic and a stupidly big wing on the back (and that's from somebody who'd got a big spoiler)

right lads i dont want to get lynched lol,....but although thery are beasts and iv got a soft spot for them im not a big fan of sierra cossys..imo they just suped up versions of sierras which are bags of shite..dont get me wrong they are cult classics but take away the cossy engine and a few features and your left with a 50 quid sierra shed,,but my mate danny had one a few years ago running approx 400bhp and they are monsters so i defo see why peeps do like them, its just for 5k plus you would be getting a mint scooby, nice evo and a few more quid you could be looking at a GTR Skyline which are much better motors imo of course.

anyway my new motor which i am getting in the summer once all the upheavel has sorted itself out and iv sold my rovers are

either

SCOOBY WRX STI RA
or
a car which im keeping underwraps untill i do get it if i do and even though i might not have a rover ill post pics so i can show it you

or my other choice would be a new shape beamer, audi rs4 on a p or newer, or possibley an e30 325 or 328, gordon whos a dj where i work had a 30k miles!! e reg 325 and i used to drve him home in it when i lived in st anns and no bullshit the pedals, gearbox cluth stearing eveything all felt new it was as if it was a brand new motor, he bought it off a a retired bmw mechanic and when i say prestine this could of easily have gone in a museum, he ended up selling it for 3k but imo it was priceless and should have been kept i bet theres not many like that, but because he smokes he burned the mint black leathers abit...nobhead and the fagtray was always brimming, now i smoke but this was like smoking in the queens presence you just dont do it lol...to say it was only standard about 170bhp i think it bloody flew and the power in the fairly little thing was unreal so if i could ever get a example like that then i would seriously consider it, i think i told some of you about another one who a guy had who i bought a turbo off, his was 400bhp and hed spent over 20k on it!! bit extreme i know but it was mint, not quite as concourse obviously regarding original condition as gordons but i bet it was an animal to drive and it looked bloody mint, i bet its a right good drive
he also had an 07 rs4 mint but id be looking at a p reg mainly do to price bracket,if i were seriously considering one.

the only bad thing about e30s is that anybody who isnt clued up on them thinks that youv only got one because you cant afford a newer one and usually think you must be a poor gangster dealing in winegums

Ah, there are very, very many better cars than the Sierra Cossie, but how many with more heart? That's what that car's about. Cult classic status, prettiness, and heart. Yes, we'd have a GTR. F**k me, if someone turned up now and offered to swap a '99 R34 GTR or a GTST of any shape or form for my 820 would I? Hell yes. But having a Sierra Cossie is about having a Sierra Cossie, and that's it.

I failed to mention of course the possibility of my getting a shagged old 316 Touring at some point soon, though that'll be for molestation purposes, not road use, as I suppose this thread really was intended for.

well if i bugger off to kuwait - then i have decided iam treating myself to a skyline, fule is 12p a litre so i cant really moan about fuelling it.

but if i was staying here, id like to try and get a supercharged BRM, or a t16 one, ave always had a soft spot for them

If the missus gets the job she has an interview for on Tues- I'm seriously considering a late 90's perfromance car as a birthday present for myself early next year. Something like the NSX or an old shape M5. something tucked away right at the back of the drive that comes out on weekends or for track days. Needless to say the 75 derv will be kept for the week day slog to work and back :)

I've just got rid of my skyline, ('99 R34 GT-T) it was running close to 400hp but didn't like the way it handled. Because of all the gadgets on it, you just slung it into a corner on full throttle and it sorts itself out if the rear comes out - it was seriously no fun to drive unless you were hoofing it and that was from the thrill of acceleration and speed rather than driving the thing!

IMO with the roads as they are and the police so hot on speeding nowadays, if i wasn't building the kit-car, i'd be driving an old MGB , a Spitfire or a TR3
