Pre Track Day Advise
Well actually not a track day but a day out at Curbrough that will involve track driving (you vs the clock).
I'm not looking to break lap records just to see where my limits lie.
But to put the back of my mind to rest i believe i should pay particular attention to -
Brakes (just been done Inc fluid)
PS Fluid
Oil - Filter
Polybushes - to go on before
Tyres - all new and pressures
Filter clean.
All nuts tha should be tight to be checked before.
Anything anyone think i have missed?

Re: Pre Track Day Advise
youve not mentioned the cooling sytem.poss one of the main things to check as the car will heat up when your taking it round the track.
check not only the level but the condition of the radiator and check that the cooling fan does come on.
most important stay safe and have fun.

Clean underwear.
On a more serious note I think you've covered the main plus the above post stating the cooling system.
Main items are suspension, tyres and brakes that get a complete hammering on track but if everything is well maintaned etc you should be alright, especially if its more a sprint than instead of 20-30mins complete abuse on track.

Cubrough isn't the biggest - car will have a good level of coolant and will constantly check for fans.
Thanks

Re: Pre Track Day Advise
I think the key is to just have fun
I use mine a lot for track days and only check the fluid levels 15 minutes before the start and just before the end of lunch. Have a quick look around the car every time you come into the pits to make sure nothings fallen off and your tyres are ok etc etc.
If you can try and get an instructor to go out with for the first few laps you will be amazed how much faster you will go.....

Re: Pre Track Day Advise
Short courses like Cubrough can be worse for cooling. As you never get a chance to build up any real speed.ti or not ti wrote:Cubrough isn't the biggest - car will have a good level of coolant and will constantly check for fans.

Re: Pre Track Day Advise
my advise would be dont time your laps- theres better ways of judging a 'good' lap- were you smooth through all the corners, were you polite to other drivers, did you over take safely, did take the optimal lines through the corners etc etc.
Above all, have fun!

Re: Pre Track Day Advise
I just checked all the fluids before i went round there, mind you i only went round for a couple of laps with the instructor on an open day.
Nice little circuit, couldent take my car round the open day this year (it was the day the ebay auction finnished + the clutch release bearing was makeing ominous sounds)
Hopefully next year though.

Re: Pre Track Day Advise
curboughs a small track not really suited to turbo bigger cars but still good fun.
best tip is try an keep the turbo spinning, i took my 220 turbo round there an round by the time the turbo come on song another corner was there grr
but as long as u keep an eye on tyres an things falling off/leaking from car you'll be fine
