they are worth a fair bit scrap value, cash in hand no questions asked,

give a jippo a cat and he can feed his jippo family for a week,
give him a socket set and he can feed his family for life
:sorry:

Heard about this on the radio, it's becoming fairly common to nick cats.

One reason to get a decat I guess.

as said trouble is the scrap value, the average cat is worth £50 scrap, go pinch 6 a night and they have no need to work for a week....

sneaky pikey barstewards. I'm so glad my cat is between manifold and pipe.
I've heard of it happening but not parked outside your f**king house. It's a shame they aren't classed as vermin then we could set to with a slug gun :D

we have had a few stolefrom the car auction over the last few months but they have only taken 4x4 ones, suppose they are heavier and get more when weighed in. best time to have a de-cat really and keep your cat locked in garage .

More likely that it's easier to get under a 4x4 than a car. Makes lowering a car seem quite sensible as a practical anti-theft measure too.

Sounds to me that they are indeed classed as vermin!

can`t understand how they did it as it was not with a pipe cutter, looks like a hacksaw from the marks but as its in the tunnel you wouldn`t be able to get a hacksaw in,does not look like an angle grinder either, definately saw cuts :(

Hi,

we had it a few months ago, bodyshop lost a couple of cats (at a replacement cost of over £1k), we got lucky (not that there's many cats on cars we tend to work on ;-) ) and only had one pipe cut so just a re-weld job.

Police didn't appear very interested at first but we eventually had them around and they caught some thieving gits the following night on a dealership forecourt.

Cheers

Its not the weight its the material within them usually about 40-50 for an average one to about 60-70 for a large i.e 4x4

£58 for a small one
£78 for a medium one
£120 for a big commercial one :D

but they have to be dealer only cats as the aftermarket ones are only worth £7 as they contain cheaper materials :)

Hopefully be safe then with the car being slammed, in the garage most nights and have no cat fitted with the sports cat sat on a shelf! Surely the easiest way would be to unbolt them rather than hacking away at it???

This is why I love cars when lowered. Makes it a bit harder for such scum. Sure, they could jack it up... But Im a light sleeper and I dont think they would want to feel the sting of my Black Widow slingshot!

a lot of people do it round here too, and I've heard they use chain cutters.
Supposedly pretty much silent and very quick.

Gaz, those prices have gone up if you are quoting from EMR :D
Last week I weighed in a small, a broken 3/4 medium and a large commerical.
I got £64 for the small
£53 for the broken 3/4 medium
and £143 for the commercial.

Seems to be going up and up at that place at the moment.
