There is a chap comming to view my car tonight, He is currentley driving a car that falls into group 20 insurance. Now he has rang around a good few insurers just to be told that his premium will almost double Some want as much as 3k
Also insurers seem to struggle when you say it was registered in 1998.. They say silly things like its not on my computer! So there cant be such a car
This doesnt make any sense to me?? Or am i missing something??
I've never had any joy with my 'FDH' when putting the registration online. Last time it came up as a Vauxhall estate of some description!! I've never bothered with the 1998 registration over the phone, just told them the plate - which should correspond to a '95, and then they get confused and ask exactly what it is. So I just say Coupe Turbo I as Emps said and away they go.

I'm with A plan on mine, thats the cheapest place i could get, No no claims and 27 and a STUPID accident involvin a nob child, (which i was proven NOT to be at fault but its still against me ) costs me £1200 TPFT which is a total con considering it used to be £800 but hey - insurance companies for you

That is terrible, mine is under half of that - Fully Comp + Mods too!
Yeah, my old hatch GTi turbo was only £650 but back then i had 5 years no claims and no blind 12 year olds running into the road
Bye bye cheap insurance hello high premiums
My other quotes were £2500 PLUS Prob dont help that i live in an area with thieving pikey scum scrotes Ive got that much bloody security on the thing, it took me half hour to start it yesterday and ive got the key lol but still made no difference to my premium

Mine's less than a third of that and fully comp too with all mods. A Plan too.
You could move house with what you'd save on insurance.
1994 220 GSi Turbo - Gone after 7 years but never forgotten.
2001 Peugeot 306 HDi - 1999 Peugeot 306 Rallye Supercharged - 2002 TVR Cerbera 4.5 V8 LW Brembodge Big Brake Kits
24 years old (23 when I took the policy out though), 6k miles a year, mods declared, 7 years no claims (+ business use, which i think bumped it right up) £566 a year.

That's very good for business use tbh, insurance is just gay and unfortunately just draws some people at random for shite premiums.

some insurers won't touch me pretty much and ask for silly money like 3k+, because I live a mile or two from a real scummy area...they maybe class my street as same.
not an fdh but I pay just over £400 a year fully comp ... 31yrs old 3 yrs no claims = with adrian flux.. I asked them why the coupe was so cheap compared to other cars of similar performance and they said
'the rover coupe turbo is not a high risk vehicle from stats they have, either for theft or for incidents'
Some companies are just gay though full stop. The Peugeot is group 5, and my postcode is one of the best I have ever tried on an insurance quote. 7 years NCB and some people STILL quote over 2K, big name insurers. I mean when someone is offering to insure me for 200 quid, why the hell are 8-10 companies asking 2K+ ?? Joke.

age 26 - 2 years no claims all mods and conversion declared - Adrian flux = 1300 , renewal is due even though with this so called credit crunch i expect it to drop to under 1000

I'm sure they do this cos they just don't want to insure for whatever reason...
Pugs are expensive though .. I recently got alot of quotes for a 406 coupe 2.0 litre bog standard (for purposes of comparison as a friend pays loads) ... none were below £700 even adrian flux.. I can only assume it's because of foreign parts or something.
I even asked the guy on the phone how come it's grp 15 and slow as hell, my coupe is 17 or something and alot less safe (no airbags etc) and he wouldn't tell me, just said that's how it is.

Damn that's good... I was paying over £1k tpft on a 1.4 L reg astra a few years back...4 years after my drinking ban...think it was also DR10. Think I was 27 or thereabouts at the time with 0 no claims cos I couldn't afford to drive at those silly prices prior.

Sounds like you're getting a good deal as I'm also with admiral, live in the same postcode area as you and pay about the same but with no points. Admiral are the only company I've stayed with for more than a year since my premium actually came down at renewal time unlike the 3 previous insurers I tried.
With a dr 10 i would consider myself stupidly lucky to pay 700 on a turbo. I still can't believe you pay so little. Didn't you declare the ban you got?
rcrossco_1 wrote:Yep. 15 months, £150 fine, no points.
Bet you couldn't believe it when you got the quote either then ... Think I got 18 months, no points and £65 fine...was at university at the time. Gratz to you matey I'll have to keep Admiral in mind if anyone else is in a similar situation and asks.
