Pride of longbridge 2009

Post by m200 »

Saturday 18th April 2009
Cofton Park,Longbridge,Birmingham.

The Pride of Longbridge Rally is organised by the Longbridge Community Action Trust which supports those affected by the closure of MG Rover. The annual rally marks the third anniversary of over 6000 employees being made redundant and celebrates the cars, the work of the factory and the people behind it over 100 years.

The format will be similar to last year with a parade of cars starting from Hopwood Services junction 2 on the M42 at 1100hrs (Meet 10.00hrs), and converging on Cofton Park opposite to the main entrance of the factory (Q gate) on Low Hill Lane, Longbridge. The rally is open to all Austin and Longbridge built vehicles including other marques whose engines and gearboxes were built or designed at Longbridge. There is no entrance fee or need to book in advance. Those of you who do not wish to join the parade may go to Cofton Park direct. The rally starts at 1100hrs at Cofton Park.

Any one up for this?

You might want to to state which Rovers are and aren't invited, as some people may not know. I.e. 800 was built at Cowley, SD1 at Solihull (mk1), Cowley (mk2) etc

I don't think theres any "restriction" as such for anything MGR, there were 800's there last year as well as older SD1's iirc.

Pretty sure they are not going to turn you away, after all, a Rover is a Rover.

As Stef says, there were many different ages of cars there last time.

Just going on the event summary in the OP:
m200 wrote:The rally is open to all Austin and Longbridge built vehicles including other marques whose engines and gearboxes were built or designed at Longbridge.
It specifically says longbridge-built. Which is 200/400/metro/mgf?

Its anything either built in Longbridge, or with engines and transmissions built in Longbridge, so you'd only be screwed if you had a Honda powered 800, Honda powered 600 or a BMW diesel powered Cowley built 75, not that anyone would really mind.

There aren't going to be bouncers telling you to get lost because you're wearing Cowley built trainers :P
