Munky, your posts strike me as very strange on this topic?

Who do you support if you have an interest in football? Have you ever watched them live (not including via TV) and why do you not want England to do well?

At least the Irish guy, who I am sure I have upset elsewhere, appears to not only have a strong interest in football but also England to boot. I tip my hat to him, even if he was an England hater I could understand his viewpoint but aren't you an English national or at least an England resident?

Does not cumpute I'm afraid.

The canaries.

The team of my home town. I followed them avidly when I lived there. I lived 200yds from Carrow road, could see the score board from my bedroom window. (they were good back then, the best, for a short period of time... then delia... DELIA... ARRRGGGHHHH F*CKING DELIA... no. stop. remember what they told you, deep breaths, happy place... woooosaaaaaaa).

I even went to see them when they played against plymouth recently. They lost, as ever.

They're really, REALLY sh*t now... but thems the breaks. I could support Man U or Chelsea, it would probably be more rewarding, but that would be selling out.

I'm an English national, since birth. Since I became aware of the world around me and able to form my own opinions of it, I have disliked england, the english, and everything this country is becoming (xenophobic, casually racist, ignorant, uneducated, immoral, unjust, unkempt), so no, I dont have any loyalty to it.

I want england to lose because it sickens me that people who spend the rest of their lives moaning about how awful england is suddenly develop some sort of misplaced patriotism when the world cup comes around, and as such look at anyone who isnt really that interested in it as unpatriotic and somehow a lesser person. Footballer is the most funded, marketed and hyped sport in the world, and in england. Yet we are still pretty lame at it.

Did your (fake) patriotism and loyalty to this (alien) country mean you were this fanatical and vocal about supporting our olympic team? The most underfunded people in the sports industry, the ones who actually do it for the love of the sport, for the love of their country, pretty much entirely unsupported by anyone but them selves and a handful of charities, as opposed to the 'sportsmen' who play football for no other reason than the paypacket?

Are you following Andy Murray in wimbledon with such passion?

I can only assume you are also following our progress in the world tiddlywinks cup too?

While we're on the psyhchiatrists couch... Why do you support england? What did your homeland ever do to you to make you abandon them so readily and wholly, in person and in spirit?

Now we have restored some normality into this thread I shall answer your points, if I miss something please highlight it as I am on an iPhone so cannot go pyramid quoting!

Fair play for following a crap team, I do aswell - Oldham. I played a few times for the junior Latics. I have lived here since about 18 months old, I have been to watch England a number of times, I was part of the supporters club and went out of my way to try and get tickets for France 98 - I failed. I even have family there who tried to get tickets for me.

I am yet to follow England in person at a major tournament but I intend to in either the Euros or the next World Cup, problem being most of my mates aren't into football, the 2 that are in a big way can't commit as one runs his own business on his own, the other earns crap money and his family take priority.

Why do I follow England? I have dual nationality, I have lived her my entire life from my living memory, I can associate with the players as I have watched them in person. I haven't with the USA (seen various Yanks in person but not the current squad!)

False patriotism? Wasnt I the one showing faith, with a level head and a fundamental understanding of football?

I see nothing to be afraid of, I wouldn't want to meet Argentina as Messi will take the tripe n onions out of Johnson, other than that - bring them on.

I know what your saying munky, but your points have nothing to do with football mate,

if you love football and your english, you support england, regardless of who else or why they support them.

Solid display, I thought milner did well too today

I've made it clear from the start, its not the game I dislike. Its the mentality of most people who follow it. So my points do have a lot to do with the world cup.

Limey is a perfect example. He thinks I shouldnt even be allowed into the conversation because I dont follow england. Why? WHat makes me unworthy of stating my opinion? Why does not following them make me a lesser person, an unpatriotic person in his eyes?

Its THAT mindset that makes me dislike the world cup, not the game itself.

A small part of me is glad we won, glad we got through, a large part of me is annoyed that I have to put up with this for a bit longer.

Anyway... we did all this on page 1... moving on...

Munky, it's the fact you have contributed NOTHING other than trolling to this thread, nothing about squad selection, predictions - NOTHING!

If it's the mentality of those who follow England that get up your nose then I don't get why you go out of your way to show the mentality of a 'hater' who says he is kind of glad they went through? You make no sense?

If you have no interest, show some dignity and p1ss off from this topic? Come back and gloat when England lose a game, be it in this World Cup or thereafter? Clue, if they don't lose from now on in then they win the World Cup.

Kindly drink a big cup of sod off and troll another topic? You have folded yourself over that many times in this thread that you look like an origami chipolata!

Agreed, Milner was ace. Rooney seems to be getting back to his usual self. Barrie had a shocker, but then its feast or famine with a player like him. Johnson was very good most of the time. Cole, to me, is the most solid cool headed player of the competition for us so far.

No worries. OK, Germany have an amazing record at World Cups but the team is very beatable. I wouldn't worry about Podolski, his record against big teams is very poor TBH. I would add Carrick in somehow, maybe at the expense of Lampard to man mark Ozil out of the game, he is my only concern.

OK, it's said every year but this does look a poor German side compared to previous years and it is time they went home early. I would have prefered Ghana though.

So you want to punish all football fans for the sake of a minority of knuckle-draggers. Isn't that what you accused Limey of regarding the welfare system?

Did I mention violence? No.

Yes I'm sure quite a high % of them got into some kind of altercation today through high spirits and alcohol. Nowhere near 50%.

You dont have to be throwing punches to be a knuckle dragger.

Its very revealing to see what you have chosen to lower yourself to. Yet only a few posts ago you mention how I have nothing intelligent to add.... playground taunts, mindless repetition and throwing back comments from other people? really... you're embarassing yourself.
